Chapter 16: Slither's Death
As the heroes dashed out of the mountain, the mountain collapsed sending thick smoke into the blue clear sky. Jasmine stood there with tears in her eyes watching the mountain crumble to the ground. Ragz walked over towards Jasmine and held out his arms. Jasmine flung herself at him then started to weep all over him. Lots of crocodile tears ran down his skinny shoulders on to his naked body. Jasmine tried to speak but nothing came out just a bellowing cry. Ragz held her tight, "Slither was a great Mage. You know she'll be floating to heaven by now watching you. She didn't train you to be upset if someone dies within your army. I know Slither trained you everything she knew but now it's your turn to lead this war. She will always be in our heart, we will never forget Slither the gorgon." Jasmine wiped her tears away. Y...your right r...Ragz I should be strong, I shouldn't be standing here whining over Slither, I need to complete this mission for Princess Yuna or we wouldn't get back in time for the war. Why didn't Falcon come to the rescue when I summoned him?"
Ragz looked down at the ruby. The ruby was dull not a single flicker of light sparkled. "Sandy do you know anything about this magic book?" "No sorry. What about you Grizzly?" asked Sandy. "Sorry I don't know either maybe when we get back to the castle, Princess Yuna could tell us more about it."
They all gathered around the pile of rocks that the mountain had become. They all bowed their heads down to say a prayer leaving their thoughts behind. After the prayer they all picked up a clump of snow a sprinkled it over the mountain. Everyone said together, "Let all the mythical god creatures from the past, look after Slither up in heaven. God bless you." They all left their sorrows behind them and headed for the steep hill. Ragz looked down. There was a beautiful sparkly waterfall that was in the distance. Then Ragz noticed something was wrong. He could only see half of the forest. The other half was torn apart by something. "That's strange the other half of the forest has vanished, something is up." Ragz sprinted down the steep hill and missed placed his footing that made him fall over. Ragz tossed and turned getting faster and faster, by the time he reached the end everything within his vision began to spin. Jasmine, Sandy and Grizzly began to chuckle, so Ragz turned to give some orders, "Stop fooling around and hurry up!"
The other three took their time making their way down the hill. They didn't want to embarrass themselves like Ragz. When they joined back up with Ragz they could see deep down that he was scared, so Jasmine spoke up to make him feel better, "It's alright Ragz, we can defeat this creature, if only we could find it." Ragz nods his head and leads the team through the extinguished forest.
