Chapter 14
Ever since Fortis went into a coma I've been as lonely as a lost toy. I've had no visitors, not even Opacare has come in. Yasmin is due in a matter of weeks and I'm not prepared. Unless if you count dresses as prepared. At the moment I'm just mourning the loss of Fortis.
I was woken from my daydreaming by knocking on the door. "Come in" I sigh knowing it will be a Caeruleus member and turn over so my gaze was not in the direction of the door, "Surprise" four voices squeaked, I turned around and I was well and truly surprised. Captionem, Vivos, Caeli and Caelum were standing in the doorway. "H-h-how?" I ask frantically looking at them, "Well" Caeli begins, "They were going to go through the gate like you and Fortis but we stopped them and they asked if I were Caeli cos they overheard you and Fortis talking about me a while ago. We said yeah and they explained their reason to be there and so we showed them the way in", I make no reply to what she just said, just absorbing the information. "It's easy when you work in the Nigrum Frigus" she adds. "We watched a girl explode. So we decided we shouldn't let that happen again. At least when we are at least when we're on duty" Caelum says and I pictured her body explode sending a shiver down my spine. "Something's wrong" Vivos says spontaneously, "No. Don't be silly" Cap says Giving him a weird look and then made 'the crazy gesture' with her right index finger and repeated the word cuckoo twice. "But there is. Amazingly clean" he says, "Cleaners tidy it daily" I reply, "Dresses" he says, "The baby is a girl" I reply, "Aww how-" Cap begins but Vivos interuputs her, "Your on the bed. If your back hurts you always sit in a chair" he says, "The chair isn't comfy" I reply, "Your eyes are blotchy. Have you been crying?" Vivos asks, "I-" I begin but yet again Vivos interrupts, "And that brings me to my last question. Where's Fortis?" he asks. This reminded me. Fortis being in a coma was something I was trying to forget. To stop me from crying. "You're crying again" Vivos says and Cap sat down beside me. "Do you know where he is?" Cap asked me, and everyone leaned in, "Umm" I say as the tears gather in my eyes, my mind focusing on Fortis lying peacefully in the hospital bed. I clear my throat so I don't squeaky in mid sentence. "H-h-he's in a-a c-coma" I say the tears now gushing down my cheeks but I forced them to dry up as quickly as they came. "I'll take you to see him, he'll probably be delighted" I say as I bring myself to my feet and walk out the door sort of expecting the others to follow. "Has he been restless?" Vivos asks, "Say what?" I ask, "Well, sometimes coma patients start to get restless as if they were conscious" he explains, "No" I reply, "Cap, you better put something over your head or you'll be arrested if anyone passes us" I say, "I've been already" she says "I've just escaped my cell", "Same here" Vivos says, "How did they capture you?" I ask, "You said you got in through the not so secret passage", " Well, let's just say they' got a hell of Caeruleus members, guards, whatever you call 'em" Vivos explains, "Okay Dokey" I say reaching for the door knob, "Fortis. I've brought visitors" I say when I opened the door. I pulled up the four chairs that were in the room to the bed. As everyone made themselves comfy I went to the calendar to change the month. I've been worried, ever since Fortis went into the coma but I'm sure I could be losing my sanity if I haven't lost it already. God, it's been a month since he went into that coma, what have I been doing all that time? I have to admit I spent most of it either crying, looking out a window or staring at the clock waiting for something interesting to happen. "Are you ok?" Cap says and that wakes me from my troubling thoughts. "I'm fine" I lie and turn around to watch everyone coo at Fortis, he must be enjoying company other than mine. I'm sure he must be sick of my rambling and ready to listen to anyone else's nonsense. "Hey Fortis" they chime each of them grinning from ear to ear as they said it. I watched them chatter to him for hours without saying a word, standing my back against the wall. I felt like many of my troubles were solved but that was probably me starting to daydream. "Parva, Are you still with us?" a voice echoes, "Yeah" I reply suddenly snapping out of my nearly subconscious realm, "Vivos and I are planning a trip home. Aka escaping for a while" Cap says, "When and for how long?" I ask, "The second of December. We'll be back before the tenth" Cap replies.
"How's cell life?" Caelum asks them only to receive a look saying seriously you're asking about my prison life. "Well, at least I'm not strapped to a slab of metal" Vivos answers, "Hell" was Cap's reply. "I think we should get going" Vivos says, "Before they check the cells". On the way out I tapped Cap lightly on the shoulder, "Have you confessed to Vivos?" I ask her, "I have but he has no interest in me" she replies, "Well" I begin knowing that he probably still has a crush on me, "I'll talk to him" I say and power walk to catch him up, "Hey" I say, "Hi" he replies, "You know that Cap has a crush on you" I say but he cuts me off, "No. Is this a set up? She's got to be joking" he asks, "I'm being serious for goodness sake" I snap quietly, "Oh sorry" he whispers, "Apology excepted" I say, "You still have a liking for me but I don't want a future fight, you know Fortis. I really don't want a fight", "I know you're taken and it's time to move on" he replies, "That's the spirit. I'll give you time to think about it. You in a separate cell to Cap?" I say, "Yeah. She sometimes comes in to keep me company though. I get pretty lonely".
