Chapter 3

Sleeping would be easy if you were in a warm bed like those ones they sell in Cinereo that are much fancier than mine. I've got the best bed in my house, a mattress that looks like its on sticks. I know it's sounds dangerous but it beats sleeping under a tree next to someone that tried to skewer you with a knife. Luckily she's helping me now. "Can you sleep Kisskat?" Cap asks, "What do you think?" I reply, "I'll take that as a no" she says. "Have you still got that sock" I ask, "Yeah, smellier than ever, remember Vivos-" she giggles but I interrupt, "We need to go back" I say, "You said Kaylyle was dangerous" she says, "The south-east might not be" I reply, "Why?" she asks, "Vivos' home" I say smiling "Help me up", "But it's pitch black" she says, "I know, let's go" I say and she helps me up.

Cap started walking forward into the trees leaving me behind, "You're going the wrong way" I say smiling, "My mistake" she says and walks to the right.

Walking is dreadful when it's dark and your stomach thinks its morning and won't shut up about it. "Are we neatly there yet?" Cap moans, "Close" I reply shocked that she said it before I did. We hadn't slept a wink and walking didn't help so we ended up napping under a tree at midnight.

We were well rested when morning arrived and the beautiful sun shone through the gaps inbetween the leaves. "Wakey, wakey rise and shiny" Cap's voice echoed in my ear, "Breakfast is ready". As soon as I heard the word breakfast my eyes shot open, "I'm starving" I moan and Cap shoves a bowl of soup in my hands, "There" she says beaming. She gets up and looks down the path we were following, "Oh my, look how close we are to Kaylyle, you can walk and eat", "Finished" I say and Cap takes the bowl off me, "Let's go" Cap says cheerfully and helps me to my feet.

She was right, I could see the gate, it was only a few yards away. "Look it's the South E-" she says but stands there. The South East was worse than the South. Slums. Vivos, you poor poor soul. "Vivos" Cap yells and bolts to the fence and I try to catch up with her, "Vivos" I yell finally at the fence, "Hi Cap, hi Parva. Why are you here? Where's Fortis?" he says, "We'll tell you after you agree to travel with us" Cap says smiling, "Ok" he says and jumps over the fence. "Right" I begin, "The Caeruleus came to collect me, and Fortis tried to protect me and they paralysed him. I fell out of the back of The Caeruleus' hover van and landed in a bush. I met Cap after I passed out while running" I explain. "I bet it would brighten his day if you visit him" he says, "But I can't, The Caeruleus know that I'll be itching to go home" I say, "One day won't do any harm" he says, "Ok, we'll go through the forest" I say, "Alrighty" he says and we set off.

We were walking for ages, flipping ages, I literally watched the sky and it turned from 10am to 5pm amazingly slow. So slow it could have been two days of complete silence. Suddenly Cap collapsed, "Cap" Vivos yells and picks her up in his arms, "Can you explain why I'm in your arms?" she asks, "You fainted" Vivos said, "Did you eat breakfast?" he asks, "No, Parva needed it more than I do" she answers and Vivos stuffs some bread in her mouth, "Eat it" he says and walks on, "Parva needs to rest" Cap says and points to the sky it was like 9pm. I really couldn't complain because I really was exhausted. "This tree looks like a good place to rest under" she says and sits under a willow a couple of yards away.

When we were under the tree it felt like heaven to all of us since we hadn't sat down in hours. "I'll get tea" Cap said and stood up, "No need" Vivos said pulling a bag of blackberries out of his pocket and Cap sits back down. After the bag of delicious blackberries was emptied we sat down together under the tree Vivos in my right, Cap on my left. Suddenly the clouds opened, the rain poured upon us soaking us. Quicker than it started rained we were huddled up frozen and cold, "You should have picked a tree a bit more waterproof" Vivos says to Cap, "Trees aren't made from gore-tex you idiot" Cap snaps, "Well, um, I'll be quiet" Vivos said.

We finally had a bit of silence and we gradually despite the rain drifted off to sleep. I woke up with my head of Vivos' shoulder but he didn't seem to mind, "Are we near the south" I ask Cap, "No" she said "Maybe another few hours" "What time is it" I ask and she looks to the sky squinting, "Nearly lunch" she replies. "Should we do some walking first", "Yeah" I say and she helps me to my feet.

While walking I realised how much love Cap gives to everyone but never receives any in return, I'm a selfish person, so cold, so heartless, so merciless. I bet she secretly admires Vivos and he likes her but they never admit it. They're like Beatrice and Benedick from a old story my mother once read to me, I heard Cap once say to Vivos, lovers are fools a line from the story, she must have read it too. I think they will make a great couple but look what situation I'm in. Suddenly Cap jumps out behind me and covers my eyes and directs me right, off the path we were following. "Surprise" she screamed and in front of me was the fence at the bottom of my garden, "Let's get you over" Vivos said, "I'll go over first" and climbs over the fence into the back of my garden. I gulp as I place my feet into the small gaps in the wire fence and slowly climb up the nerve racking ten feet. As soon as I climbed up and reached the ground on the other side I was so relieved but I must have took ages since Cap just took a run up and jumped half the way up and got over in the next thirty seconds. "Let's go" she says and grabs mine and Vivos' wrists and leads us to the backdoor, "I do know how to get to my backdoor" I say annoyed. Vivos knocked on the door with his right hand since Cap still had his left. "Hey guys" a small voice says as the door opens, sat in a wheelchair was Fortis strangely only his legs were paralysed, "Olly, Parva's back and has brought Cap and Vivos" Fortis calls to my mum and she arrives behind him to give us hugs each. "Can I talk to you alone in silence" Fortis whispers to me, "Sure" I answer and follow him down the corridor into the study that is now a huge walk in cuboard with two tattered sofas at the back. "How did you escape The Caeruleus?" he asks, "I fell out the back of the van" I say sheepishly, "Are you hurt is-" he says panicking but I interrupt, "I'm fine. Fortis, if I'm here I'm fine if I'm not I might be hurt then you can have a panic attack" I explain, "I know that you can't stay for long cos of The Caeruleus but are you staying for the night?" he says, "I might be on my feet tomorrow", "No, just for tea, but how come you will be on your feet tomorrow, Resonare said a few weeks" I question him, "Resonare doesn't know I've been paralysed before and I guess he's never seen a fighter" he beams. What he said about him being a fighter made me want to stay the night and hope he's walking tomorrow.
