Chapter 6
Fortis must have got bored of my plodding that was slower than a snail, so he did what I hated most. Picking me up. He carried me to the bottom of the fence but didn't put me down. "Watch this" Cap said and ran up to the fence and jumped at least half the way up and climbed over, "I'll go next" Fortis said and handed me to Vivos like I was a toy. Fortis wasn't the worst climber, in fact I'm the worst, but he wasn't as good as Cap. He was stumbling trying to fit his feet into the gaps, "It's hard" he moans, "Just be glad it isn't chicken wire" Cap said, "Or barbed. It would be hard getting over the top" Vivos joked. "Cap can you help him get down, we don't want an injury and Vivos put me down" I say "Sorry pumpkin but he is following orders" Fortis answers for him and loses his footing and falls the last five feet. "My turn" I say fed up with being carried and i was starting to fidget, "Vivos give her a leg up" Fortis says and Vivos gives me a leg up so I'm more than half way up climbing is tough even though I'm used to it, it's hard when your half awake. "You ok" Cap calls to me and I noticed I was swaying a little, "Yep" I say and swing my left leg over the top still swaying and this made Fortis get into a position, ready to catch me. "Move Fortis or I'll fall and deliberately squish you" I say "You are just to protective", but he doesn't move, "Cap. Move him please" and she moves him back a yard. "I'm not protective, just caring" he says, "Ok then, you're very clingy" Vivos said, "But…" he begins, "You are, we all know it" Cap interrupts, "Parva, am I clingy?" Fortis asks me putting me in a tricky situation, "I love you Fortis bu-but you are j-just a little, clingy" I say and jump down the last three feet. "Thanks, I thought you - never mind" Fortis shouts angrily at my face and sprints off. I try to follow him but Cap holds me back, "Leave him" Vivos says jumping the few feet to help hold me back. "Why?" I ask, "Sometimes he can a right old moody git" Vivos says and Cap elbows him reminding that he's saying that to the girlfriend of that 'old moody git'. Suddenly from the bushes came a dying whale sound that was a human suffocating from their own throat closing up. I know this since it's happens to me a lot. When I'm upset. How would I fix this, he knows I'm far from decent when it comes to cheering people up. "Where is he?" Cap whispers to Vivos, "How am I supposed to know?" he replies, "He's in the shrubbery on our right" I say to them quietly through barred teeth, "Aha" Vivos says loudly and creeps up to a bush and stag bolted out. It was Fortis in animal form. "I've got him" Vivos said grinning, turned into a swallow and pursuided him filling the whole forest with his song that was supposed to let Fortis know that there is nowhere to run or hide. "Do you think Vivos will catch him?" Cap asks me, "What do you mean?" I ask in reply "Fortis will see sense and return", "Not always" Cap mutters, "Why? He isn't stupid" I say, "Well. We have lost him a number of times" she says, "I don't think you know" "Know what?" I ask, "You see. Fortis suffers from. Aspergers syndrome. Luckily, he is just on, what they call, the autistic spectrum" she says smiling. "Fortis" I shout running, towards, Vivos, just Vivos.
"I nearly got him, but I banged into a tree" Vivos says rubbing his head, but he can see the tears gathering slowly in my eyes. "Don't worry" he says, "He'll come back, wait a second" he says and coughs as if he's going to make a announcement of some sort "He made his girlfriend cry" he yells facing the forest, away from me. "I'm not crying" I say the tears started to steam down my face, "But you are" he says, "He has got to return soon, it's getting dark" Cap says "We have to camp here" pointing at a tree that was a large ash, "I'll be on guard" Vivos says, "Ok" I say and sit among the roots and drifted off to sleep in comfort.
I woke up about 1am and Cap was nearly falling out the tree. Vivos was nearly asleep but I threw a stick at him the check. He was asleep but I wasn't bothered to wake him. After I drifted to sleep, I must have been woken by a very angry Captionem. "Look at who I caught -. What were you doing anyway?" Cap was asking a prisoner who she had got in a headlock pointing a knife a his throat. "I was making breakfast" the prisoner replied in a familiar voice. My vision became clearer and the prisoner was Fortis, "Fortis" I shout, "We were so worried about you" and I tried to get up but my back couldn't take it so I fell flat on my ugly face. "A little help, please" I say and Fortis kicks Cap in the ankle so she lets go of him. "You should remember you need help getting up sometimes, well, all the time" he says and helps me up. "Did you really miss me" he says, "Yes, you idiot" I say kissing him but nearly slipping, "Sometimes I just hate myself" I say, "Why?" he asks, "You know, my back, my lack of balance and that I have as much beauty as a warthog" I reply, "No you don't" he says, "Well. You would be sick of this face if you saw it everyday, knowing its yours" I say, "No-" he disagrees with me so I kiss him again to shut him up but he pulls away. "No time for kisses" he whispers to me ducking down so he is at my height, "Ok" I mutter feeling stupid, "We need to get moving, Parva isnt safe here" he says to everyone, "Don't you mean everyone isn't safe here" I correct him, "The Caeruleus are looking for you not us. No offence Cap, Vivos but Parva is the object we need to protect" he says and everyone starts to pack up the little amount of gear we got out and ate breakfast on the move. "Since when did I become a object?" I ask him, "If you are saying you are an object but asking when you became one. My answer is that you became one a minute ago when I said that you were the object we need to protect. You should take that as a compliment" he said but I didn't make much of an effort to reply.
We carried on walking into the quiet, blissful, beautiful forest, but what we didn't see couldn't be seen by the naked eye.
