Chapter 16
She had her father's sea green eyes and my hazel hair, apart from my hair, Yasmin looked like Fortis so much it brought tears to my eyes.
Yasmin was in my arms. I just couldn't believe it, really. Her silent slumber just brings a smile on my face like I've forgotten all my troubles and woes. The sad thing is, I haven't. Fortis springs to mind more often than I like and has played a huge part in dreams and nightmares. I don't get much visits since I'm not allowed out and others in, but I'm sure today is the day or they'll pay 'cos I'm losing my patience. They're lucky I haven't lost the plot already since its been two weeks since I went into labour.
A knock on the door disturbs me. "Come in" I say rolling my eyes, "Miss Clearbank, you have visitors" a doctor said, "Okay" I say quite suspicious, "So can we come in" the doctor said in a squeaky voice that was so familiar. Cap.
"Cap?" I say, "So I didn't get you" she said pulling off her doctor disguise, chucked it over the back of the armchair and scuttled in followed by Caeli, Caelum and Vivos. "Mint plan, how-", "We bring news of Fortis" Vivos says as soon as he shuts the door. He gestures to Caeli and Caelum to shut the blind on the window that over looked the corridor. "What news" I beam, "For a start it's most unusual" Cap said, "I think Caeli left something, a pen, am I right?" Vivos smiles, "Yes" Caeli said managing to close the blind, "And, he was stirring in the bed like he knew that was going on" he said, "He means like Fortis was fighting the coma, turning pretty vigorously" Cap corrects him, "Wow, I saw that when you took me out of the hospital room, he's still doing that" I say, "Most likely" Cap says, "Can we visit him?" I ask, "Sure. But how will we get there? Any suggestions?" she asks, "Same disguise" Caelum suggests, "We only have one disguise for Parva but Cap needs one. She's on the most wanted list" Vivos says, "Tunnels" Caeli says, "No entrance near" Cap says, "Above" Vivos says, "No entrance near" Cap repeats, "Umm. We could beat the living daylight out the guards" I suggest and this brings a smile to everyone's faces. "Now look who's talking" Cap smiles, "They're three guards and five of us. They won't know what's coming" Caelum grins. "Lets get cracking" Caeli said, "You'll need this" Cap said and handed me a basket to put Yasmin in.
Caelum and Caeli quickly slipped open the door and within a minute three guards were lying on the floor, paralysed by their own tasers. "Go, go, go" Cap called to us and we quickly fled down the corridors, "Why didn't I ask to be escorted there?" I ask them, "Because it won't be as fun" Caeli replied and barged through the door to Fortis's hospital bed. "Hi" I said quietly to the moionless body of Fortis, "This is Yasmin" I said and picked her up, "Yasmin, say hello to daddy".
I pulled over a chair so it was close to the bed. "We should leave you three alone" Vivos said pushing the other three out the door.
I held her out towards the bed and sat her on the edge. She's such an eager child. She reached out as if to grab a toy towards Fortis's face and placed her meaty hand upon his cheek squeezing it gently. Fortis started to stir, his heart rate rose (According to the monitor) and suddenly his eyes shot open. I was startled but full of relief and joy. He embraced our daughter with both his arms and spoke two words, "Daddy's here".
