Chapter 1
Light filled the dark bedroom just like any other morning. I was curled in the rag of my blanket wishing for just another five minutes, when suddenly came the echo of a wooden spoon against an iron pan. Great I think, scrap those extra minutes. "Parva, come down stairs or your porridge will go cold" an voice comes from bellow. I start to get changed in my usual ragged jeans and green polo shirt but, my younger sister disturbs me, she thuds up the stairs while yelling "Parvee, come on, take me to school and you haven't started your breakfast" she pokes her head though a gap in my bedroom door "Coming, Claudere" I say. I bend down and look under my bed to find my trainers. It's difficult to get them on because here in Kaylyle shoes are expensive and hard to come by, so when we see a pair we don't buy them, oh no we don't have the money, we deal them for things like old clothes, animals and herbals remedies. As I make my down the creaky stairs and into the kitchen, I notice an empty bowl "Where's the porridge" I ask myself. "It was only to get you down here so you can go hunting" my mum moaned with a slight grin
"Oh yeah" I reply "How could I forget"
"Parva, you are not leaving this house wearing those shoes" she sighs.
I look down at my mud caked trainers and smile
"Just the way I like them" I grin I pick up my bow, arrow sheaf, game bag and sprint to door.
