Chapter 15
My eyes widen in shock as a giant bruise started to form on Vivos' forehead, "Geeez, Fortis, you are like a little kid, too protective of his toys" Vivos said rubbing his head. "I'm not a toy" I snap, "We know that, it's Fortis who doesn't" Vivos laughed, "Don't you go making this worse" I snap again, "Ok" Vivos said, "Shhhh" I whisper angrily, "Sorry" Vivos muttered, "Button it" I shout furiously.
We sat in silent for a good half an hour, Vivos playing with his ridiculous brownish-red hair, Me staring into oblivion and Fortis making amusing faces at a rat on the floor but none of us were in mood the laugh or smile at his stupidity.
This silence was broken when the steel door opened and a small woman hopped through the gap. Lubrica. "Greetings, Spirit Warriors" she said smiling trying to hide her red blotchy eyes. I wanted to ask her but I just stayed silent since she probably came to announce early for the fun of it where we were all going to be dissected and what reason. "Tough crowd" I hear her whisper to herself as she closed the door, "What do you want" Fortis snapped spontaneously, one minute making faces at a rat, the next a serious person, freaky. "I want to ask you a favour" she said, "But first I'll tell you the story". Great another droning story, where I can't escape. "We were out in the woods around the outskirts of Kaylyle hunting Captionem and we managed to capture her" she said and Fortis' mood lifted, "But she escaped and k-k-killed one of us" she stuttered, "So what, in the past few years loads of Caeruleus members are knifed, skewered and assassinated" Vivos snaps already overcome with boredom. Then suddenly Lubrica burst into tears, "She wasn't an o-o-ordinary member, she was my sister, C-c-cantet, she was only fourteen" she sobbed and this nearly brought Fortis to tears since he could easily imagine his fourteen year old sister, Lily lying on the floor lying in a puddle of blood. "Captionem thought Cantet was me and while running away sliced her, there was nothing we could do to save her, all I could do was watch my little sister who most of the time in The Caeruleus didn't know what she was doing die in my arms" she wailed, "That's why I want revenge her, but I can't, Captionem knows what I'm trying to do, so I'm prepared to make a deal" she said "What kind" Vivos snapped, "If one of you go into the forest to track down Captionem and kill her, I'll get you all to safety" she said "Does anyone what to take this quest before you all go under the knife". We all went silent, nobody wanted to risk their life for someone who only days ago wanted to kill us all, "Ok, I'll just go then" Lubrica said annoyed, then suddenly Fortis blurted out, "I'll do it" I was shocked so I quickly half said half shouted "I'll go with him", "Very well then, but if I find she is not dead or any reason, your girl gets it, Fortis do we have a deal" she said grinning, "Sure" he said and they shook hands and I realised Fortis naturally had a soft heart so it was best to go with him even if I only just realised it now. "What about Vivos" I say curiously, "If you don't come back, he's dead" Lubrica said making the situation much harder. "Ok, as soon as I release you, go straight ahead, two left turns, a right, straight on, then up through the trap door, use this" she said and showed Fortis a little electronic device. "Metal expander, to expand the key hole so you can reach the bolt" she says and uses the little contraption to expand the cuffs on Fortis' wrists and ankles and to amaze Fortis as she loosed the cuffs around my wrists, ankles and waist. I have to be honest it is pretty amazing, well neither Fortis, Vivos and I have ever heard a whirring noise like that never mind seen a metal expander. "Off you go" she said and chucked the metal expander at Fortis. I could hear her talking to Vivos something about if we're spotted she gets fired or something worse but I couldn't quite catch what she said to him.
