Dreaming angels

Chapter 13 Wingless

Lucas screamed in pain. I knew why, I knew how and I could see the pictures in my head. My face was still covered, I couldn’t bear to look. A sticky liquid dripped on to my hand. I cried out in horror. The angel had ripped Lucas’s wings right off his back. I had caused it. The ride stopped outside and Lucas whispered to me. “Don’t freak out. I’m going to make people think I’m not there, including you. I don’t want to cause a scene, just thank the guy and leave this place I will meet you at the car. I did as Lucas asked and walked out. I followed the trail of blood. Five minutes later I found Lucas in the car. I ran to open the door and got in. “Lucas!” I cried as the blood gushed out everywhere “Are you ok? Ohmygosh. I caused this.” I started to cry. “Jane! You did not cause this. You hear! It was not you.” He held my face in his hands. He yelped in pain. “What can I do?” I cried “I’ll do anything” “Just promise me one thing. It’s all I ask of you.” “Anything Lucas” “Promise me you will stay with me forever.” “Lucas. How could I not? Of course I will stay with you” I promised “Lucas we need to get you home and you’re hardly in any position to drive.” “I’m not. Am I?” he frowned “Swap seats with me. I will drive. Rest please.” I begged. He swapped seats and I drove off. I started to worry when he fell asleep but I just carried on driving. I remembered how to get back to Lucas’s house, luckily. Lucas woke up when we were close to the gates. What would I tell Christine. “I’m going to do what I did before.” He said. “What about the blood?” I said “She won’t see it.” We approached the gates and Lucas handed me a set of keys. Christine walked towards the car. “Hey Jane. Where’s Lucas?” “Oh he’s in a café in town. He gave me the house key and the car to go get something out of the house.” I held up the keys Lucas had given me. “Oh ok Jane.” she opened the gates and waved me in. I breathed a sigh of relief a. I parked and got out of the car, opening the door for Lucas even though I still couldn’t see him. Walking into his flat felt strange without him. I got in the elevator and pressed the button for floor 8. Blood dripped. I walked down to his door and closed it behind me. Lucas reappeared. “You did well.” He said “Thanks, but there’s more important things to worry about now.”

Chapter 14 What to have? I finally found the first aid box in Lucas’s house. I pulled out a bandage and wrapped it around his body. I wasn’t easily charmed by his 8 pack or his sweet kisses when he hissed in pain and I apologized. I was focussed on bandaging his wound. I also grabbed him a bag of ice to sooth the pain. As soon as I was done I knew he felt better. “Every time I take you out something happens. It’s like you draw disasters, but in a good way.” I looked at him strangely. “I’ll take that as a compliment” I said now smiling. “Good.” He replied “Now it’s already 6.30. What am I going to do about taking you to dinner?” “Rain check.” I said and smiled, just to show him I was ok with it. “You’re postponing you meal for another day?” I smiled and nodded. “Nope. Not good enough. I’m ordering in but that’s the lowest I’m going.” He got up and hissed, he was in agony. “No! Please don’t get up. I can’t bear to see you like that. I’ll get it.” He sat back down. “Kitchen, second draw down. There’s about 4 take out menus. That’s the best thing about being in a flat, we get lots of takeout menus” he said with sarcasm. I jumped up from the couch and grabbed the menus. There was Indian, Chinese, Mexican or vegetarian menu. I walked back to Lucas and kissed him on the cheek. “Cute.” He said “Very cute” “What?” I asked puzzled “You.” He replied and I smiled “Thanks” I kissed him again, this time on the lips. “Ok, so what’s for dinner? Your choice as always.” He said and I smiled. “Nope. Not tonight. Tonight it’s your choice.” “But-” I cut him off “No buts. Its your choice and I’m paying. Or I won’t talk to you for a whole week.” Gosh that would be hard. I thought. “Wait I take that back for the rest of the night.” He sighed loudly. “Fine” he frowned “I don’t think I could bare you being annoyed. It would kill me. Literally, id go mental” “I’m getting guilt now, for paying. Please don’t be sad” I begged, so he smiled “Ok so what are we having?” I asked “Would it count if I looked into your head to get an idea?” he asked. “I’m not stopping you.” I replied “You’re supposed to be my guardian angel that should automatically give you a right to what’s inside my head.” He concentrated on me, staring straight into my eyes. “Narrow it down to two” he asked “Giving me four options doesn’t help.” “Mexican or vegetarian?” he looked into my eyes once more. “Well you’re vegetarian, so I guess I say vegetarian.” I smiled. He opened the menu and gave it to me “Now this is your choice.” he said smiling “I’m going to have the mixed vegetable noodles. You?” “The same.” He smiled “You did that on purpose.” I accused “Nope.” He lied “I like the sound of it.” I pulled out my phone from my pocket and dialled the number. “Hi. Can I have two mixed vegetable noodles, please.” I put my hand over the phone “Do you want a drink?” I asked Lucas “I’ll have what you have” he replied. I pulled my hand away from the phone. “And two diet cokes please.” I continued “To be delivered or is it a pick up?” The man on the phone asked. I put my hand on the phone again. “Delivered or pick up?” I asked Lucas “Pick up” Lucas replied “Pick up please. 20 minutes, ok thanks. Bye” I hung up. Lucas was day dreaming, he stared at the floor for a good few minutes and then stared at me. “Do you want me to go?” he asked. “No” I said immediately “ I’ll go.” I looked at the menu and found the address. 24 Gold Lane I got up and put on my coat. “Maybe I should come with you.” “Nope. I’ll be back soon.” “Ok. He got up, walked to the kitchen and pulled out a spare set of keys from the draw. “My car keys are on there. Keep that set I have my own.” I raised my eyebrows “Are you serious?” I asked “Very.” He anwered “Thank you Lucas.” I smiled “It’s the least I can do.” “Ok see you later, be here and don’t leave” I kissed him “Why would I leave you? I’ll see you later if you’re not back in 45 minutes I’m coming to look for you. I mean it” I smiled and walked out…

Chapter 15 Henry I grabbed the car and noticed that the light was starting to drain from the sky. Christine let me out of the gates so I thanked her and smiled. The ride to the take out wasn’t long but I still kept myself entertained by turning on the radio. When I arrived, I thought I saw a familiar face but shook the feeling off when I walked into the shop. I grabbed the food, paid and walked out. It was pitch black now; the street seemed to be empty now. Fear started to build up inside me. I wish Lucas was here. I though “He’s not here.” Someone, other than Lucas, had answered my thoughts. But who? “I’m the fallen angel you saw earlier today.” He spoke again. Where was the voice coming from? “Over here.” I turned to find him standing behind me. “What are you doing here?” I asked. He grabbed my wrist. “To tell you to stay away from Lucas.” “Why?” I tried to shake him off my wrist, but he was too strong. “He’s going to kill you” The angel replied “Just this morning you said I should stay with him.” His hand tightened around my wrist. “You’re hurting me” I cried, but he ignored me. “Not Lucas. Lucas wouldn’t hurt a fly, he’s weak. There’s someone else out there. He’s out there to kill you.” All of a sudden a car turned the corner at lightning speed. Lucas got out. “Let go of her” Lucas snarled, my heart jumped at the sight of him. I was so happy to see him. “Lucas. You know he will kill her. You know he’s out there.” The angel shouted, I gasped. “I will protect her, Henry. I can’t leave her” “Protect her by leaving her. You’re not her guardian anymore” Henry replied. He let go of me and I ran to Lucas. Lucas wasn’t my guardian angel anymore because I got his wings ripped out. “If you were smart Jane, you’d stay away from him. Far away. If you don’t you will soon have a lot of enemies.” He turned to Lucas “I’m sorry about your wings Lucas, but I warned you and Jane” Henry ran away. “Get in the other car, Jane. I’ll follow you to my house” he said angrily. I walked to the car and started the ignition…

Chapter 16 The truth I cried all the way to Lucas’s. I thought about him, he would have to go through eternity wingless and a fallen angel. Even when I died he couldn’t return to heaven. It was all my fault. I wiped away the tears when Christine walked to the window. She let though and I parked up. When I got out of the car, I realised Lucas wasn’t there. Had he chose to leave me, like henry said to do? Then I saw the gates open. Lucas. I thought. The windows on the car were dark and blacked out like the ones of a limo. The window rolled down and a man, shot a needle in my arm. His car rushed forward and the gates, automatically, opened for him. I didn’t have time to pull the needle out; I fell to the ground with a thud. I had blacked out… When I woke I was lay in a bed. It was so comfortable; the mattress and pillows had to be memory foam. I felt so dizzy but I sat up anyway and found Lucas sat on a chair at the other side of the room. “Jane” he got up from his seat and rushed to hug me. “You’re ok. You were… drugged again.” “He shot a needle in my arm” I replied and he let go of me. “Who? What needle?” Lucas demanded. “The man, I didn’t see his face. He shot a needle in my arm. What do you mean ‘What needle?” “There was no needle when I found you Jane. You were just lying there.” I looked at my arm. There wasn’t even a pin-prick. “It was right here. I thought it was you. In the car I mean.” I shook my head. “Lucas. What’s going on?” He sat on the bed next to me and crossed his legs. “Jane” he sighed “I…” “Who’s trying to kill me Lucas?” I asked “I don’t want to tell you. It will scare you” “I don’t care.
