Chapter 20 School
Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. I woke to the sound of my alarm clock. Lucas turned to me. “Morning” he said, smiling “Morning” I replied “Your mum left early this morning. She’s left a note for you on the kitchen side.” “Ok, thanks.” Then I realised the day. “Urhhhh!” I moaned “What?” he asked “School” he smiled. “I’m in all of your classes.” “You are?” “Yep, all of them and Nice hair by the way” he said. I touched my hair, it was a mess. I got up and looked in the mirror. “Ughhh” I said to my reflection. I had a bedhead. “I’ve got to go home and get changed.” “I’ll be fine here.” I said “I’m picking you up from here in one hour. Be ready.” “I will” Lucas jumped up and started to climb out of the window “Lucas?” “Yep” “You know you can use the door” he smiled “I know it just feels better jumping out of a window. Plus which would impress you more the door or the window?” “So this is about impressing me?” I asked, putting my hands on my hips. “Yep” he replied “The window, but it’s not wise or safe” “It’s safe. Trust me” “If you say so. And Lucas? “Yep?” “I love you” “I love you too Jane” he said, and then he jumped out of the window. About an hour later Lucas returned. I had got dressed, got rid of my bedhead and packed my bag by then. After grabbing the keys, I locked the door. “Ready?” “As I’ll ever be” I replied. We drove off. When we arrived at school, I saw Penelope. She stared straight at me, her jaw dropping and then she tapped her friends on the shoulder. They all stared in astonishment for a couple of seconds, then they returned to walking to form. “What’s with them?” Lucas asked as we got out of his car. “Penelope and her friends hate me and I’m guessing that they like you” “Oh. They aren’t getting me. Why do they hate you?” “I think her hatred for me started over gold stars in year 1.” Lucas laughed “I’m guessing you got the gold stars?” “I did.” “Well done” I smiled “Thank you, but your 10 years late.” He smiled back “Sorry.” When I arrived at my form, Lucas gave me a kiss and whispered “I’ll be here when you get out” I wasn’t looking forward to form, Penelope was in there. I walked in to find the teacher wasn’t there yet. It was just me, Penelope and her friends. “Oi! Jane.” Penelope shouted, I turned “What did you do to him? Curse him? You witch!” Her friends giggled Are they giving you a hard time? I heard Lucas say Yeah. I replied. But I can deal with it. Are you sure? I thought about that for a second Positive. “Jane! What’s his name?” Penelope shouted “Yeah Jane! I’ll give you £10 if you give me his address.” shouted Georgina. “Come on Jane! Give me his address and I’ll give you £50” shouted Carmen “£100 ill pay £100 for his address. And £20 for his name.” shouted Anastasia. I just ignored them. 5 minutes later the teacher walked in. form was long and tiring. When I got out, just as he’d said, Lucas was stood there. “Did you even go to form?” I asked “Yes.” “That was quick then. Where’s your form room?” “There” he pointed at the door directly across the room. It was less than two metres away. “Oh. Do you know what class we have next?” “Yeah, science” “Oh. That’s actually a good lesson” Just then Penelope walked out of form. She smiled evilly but Lucas glared at her and she walked off. “Let’s go. She’s in your science. Isn’t she?” “Yeah. This is going to be one hell of a day.” I replied
