Chapter 5 Park As soon as we were out of the building, I breathed a quiet sigh of relief. I turned to Lucas who was still shaking with anger. “Are you alright?” “I wish you could hear what he was thinking.” I gulped “I wouldn’t have done that if…” “It’s ok. Let’s go somewhere else.” I suggested “Yeah? Are you sure? After-” I cut him off “Yeah. I mean you did just have a full on fight, but I can’t just leave you like this” he stopped shaking “Where?” he questioned. I looked around. “The park?” “Sure.” We started to walk towards the park. I thought about Lucas, how he was able to read minds? I decided to test something. Lucas I thought can I hear what you’re thinking? Of Couse he thought back “That’s pretty creepy and cool. How do you do it?” “It’s better you not know.” “Please” “I will tell you… soon” “You’re not going to tell me you’re a vampire. Are you?” He smiled and laughed “No and you read too much twilight.” “You’ve read twilight?” I stopped, turned to him and raised my eyebrows “No. I just got the story, from you.” “Oh.” I said “How close do you have to be to someone to read their mind?” “As close or as far as I want as long as I’ve met them before. You could be in Alaska and I could know what you’re thinking, unless you close your mind off” “How do I do that?” “You don’t want me to read your mind?” “No I don’t mind. It’s just… I’d like to know” I reassured him “I don’t exactly know. Very few have been able to do it” “Oh. I see” We returned to walking. When we reached the park I saw a black shadow cross the park. It’s ok. I’m safe. I have Lucas. I reassured myself “You are and thanks” he said, almost instantly. Good I thought. He smiled so I knew he had heard it. He put his arm around my shoulders. “See there is nothing to be afraid-” he stopped and looked around. “What is it?” “We have to get out of here.” He replied “Why?” “I just need to take you home” “Ok” I nodded
