Dreaming angels
Preface The dream
I was in a room, not a room really more of a big space. It was all white. There was a boy with short black hair and wings. Massive white angel wings, they towered above him. He shouted something but I couldn’t quite make it out. He tried to grab my hand but I was being pulled away. “No” I cried. I tried to grab on to the hand of the boy but I wasn’t strong enough. I was being pulled away by… I woke up sweating. It was boiling. I jumped out of bed and looked at the clock 6.30am. I walked in the bathroom and got into a cold shower. That’s the last time I have the radiator on when I go to bed, I thought. When I was out of the shower I got dressed, grabbed my lunch and keys and got into my mucky, white, rusty truck and headed off to school.
Chapter 1 Penelope “I’m sorry I’m late Miss Fall” I couldn’t believe I was late to history. It was my last and favourite lesson of the day. She looked up from her new apple laptop. “It’s ok Jane, I’ve not done the register yet. Here’s the new seating plan” she smiled, passed me the new seating plan and then carried on typing. She was dressed in one of her nice black suits today. She only wore suits for interviews or special occasions like the last day of term or something like st Patrick ’s Day. My jaw fell open as I looked at the new seating plan. I was sat next to Penelope Scott’s, the girl who had been the school bully since year one. She sat there on her shiny, new purple blackberry waiting for her three evil friends Georgina, Carmen and Anastasia. I walked over to my seat and quietly and sat down. I hoped that Penelope was too distracted with her blackberry to notice me but I knew she wasn’t. “Oh no! I’m sat next to the geek” she shouted. “Miss! Miss! I NEED to change seats.” “Why would you need to do that, Penelope?” Miss fall said with a loud, exhausted sigh. Penelope thought of a quick excuse. “It’s too hot over here!” she said, Miss Fall raised her eyebrows “Really miss, I’m being boiled alive like a lobster over here” “Penelope, your sat right next to two open windows” miss fall replied “I mean cold, I’m freezing. I think I’m getting a cold Miss.” She faked a loud sneeze. Achooo! The class whispered and giggled. “Penelope you can stay there next to Jane” Penelope turned to me and scowled. The next hour was painful. I could feel Penelope’s eyes staring at me. Most of the class didn’t arrive so Penelope was forced to sit in silence next to me, being caught was her biggest weakness. The next day was going to be awful If the rest of the class turned up miss Fall would be too busy to notice Penelope calling me names and hitting me. I was going to have to stand up for myself for the rest of the year. I sighed. When the bell rang for home time, I was able breath again. I had been holding my breath, not daring to move. But luckily I had made it out of the day alive. I smiled, said goodbye to miss fall and left the classroom, feeling relived. When I got home I did my homework, had my tea then went straight to bed. I repeated the long day in my head. There was someone I didn’t recognise, a boy… a new boy. There had been a new boy in my history lesson. A boy with dark black hair, exactly like the one in my dream. Why hadn’t I noticed this? Who was he? What his name was? I pulled out my copy of the seating plan. Lucas. The boy was called Lucas… no second name. Huh? I’d find out tomorrow. Id introduce myself and find out. Curiosity was getting the better of me…
Chapter two Lucas The next day I had my usual morning lessons, maths with Mr Blade and English with Mrs Candle. I wasn’t looking forward to history. I gave skipping the lesson some serious thought, but I needed Lucas’s second name. I couldn’t give an explanation for it, I just needed it. I walked through the door to history, head down. “Ahhh, Jane. I have decided to change who you sit next to” I looked up and stared at where Penelope was sat yesterday. She wasn’t there, in her place was Lucas. “You will be sitting next to Lucas Angeling” Angeling. Ha. Meaning spiritual beings, messenger of god. I was having dreams about an angel whose second name was Angeling. Great, I must be going crazy. “Ok, thanks miss” I said I walked over to my seat. “Hi, Jane right?” he asked “Hi. Emmmm… yeah it is. You’re Lucas?” I replied “Yeah.” “Ok class. Turn to page 369 in your text books please.” Shouted Miss Fall I was surprised, when the bell rang. The hour had passed quickly. “I will be reading your papers on Monday.” Announced miss fall. “Take your notes on your partners home and write them up” I hadn’t been able to get much information from Lucas, he had asked too many questions about me and refused to give me answers. I was getting pretty annoyed. The only things I got were that he likes classical music and that he lives on his own. I needed more information. “Lucas, do you mind if I ask for your phone number. It’s just that…” He cut me off “You need more information for the paper” It was like he could read my mind “yeah, how did you?” I questioned “Just a guess” he replied He pulled out his phone, it was the newest iPhone so shiny and clean, and wrote down his number. “Here, call me” He said “Thanks, err… see you Monday?” “Yeah, see you Monday” I left. When I got to my truck I found a note placed on my front window. The note read… Will be going out tonight. Care to join? Lucas Angeling How did he get out here so fast to put the note here? How did he know this truck was mine? I looked around, he wasn’t anywhere In sight. I’d have to ring him later. I would ring him later…
Chapter 3 Hallucinations Later on that night, at around 5.30, I decided to call Lucas. He picked up the phone on the first ring. Creepy. “Hello Jane” How did he know it was me calling? “Hello, I was just calling about the note you left on my truck” “Oh. So would you?” he asked “Excuse me?” “Like to come out tonight?” “I guess so. It’s Friday so yeah.” “Great! I’ll pick you up at around 8.00. Be ready” He put the phone down. Thanks just great, I didn’t even give him my address. Maybe someone told him where I lived. Why would he ask? My mom wouldn’t be back until Sunday, she’d been out all week. She works as a detective, so she needed to be away from home a lot of the time. I didn’t mind though, it was nice having the house to myself. I called her to say I was going out. RING! RING! RING! She didn’t answer so I decided to leave her a message. “Hi mom, going out tonight with a friend. I will call tomorrow morning around 11.00. Bye” Done. Now all I had to do was think about was going out. What was I going to wear? I didn’t even know where he was going. Realising id wasted half an hour of time, I ran upstairs and shoved open my bedroom door. My bedroom was ransacked. I stood in shock and horror as I looked. My bedside light and lava lamp lay smashed on the floor. My curtains were hanging halfway off the wall. My books looked like they’d been flung in every direction across the room. My clothes were slashed and had been thrown onto the floor. I shut my eyes tight and wished for it to go away… When I finally opened my eyes, to my surprise, everything was back to normal. My books were all in there place. My beside light and lava lamp were set neatly on my desk. My curtains weren’t hanging have way off the wall and I saw my clothes neat in the wardrobe. I blinked a few times and pinched myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. it had all been so real. I really am stressed I thought. I checked the time, 7.30. How long had I been standing there? I rushed to my wardrobe and picked out a nice dress. It was one of my favourites. The dress was dark purple with white and gold thread making a beautiful design at the bottom of the dress. I also put some tights and small heel boots on. I felt like I was going on a date. Was I? Is that what Lucas was asking? To go on a date? I had only just met him. Just before I left my room I doubled checked my bedroom window and all the other windows in the house were locked. Then I heard the beep of a car horn…
Chapter 4 Fight “Hello and wow” said Lucas, he smiled. Lucas was dressed in dark jeans and a t-shirt. His car was a new black, convertible BMW, there wasn’t even a speck of dirt on it. When did he buy this car? Just now? Who was he trying to impress? Me? “Hi and thanks” I replied “Ermmm… how did you know where I live? I didn’t get a chance to tell you on the phone” “Good guess?” “Is that your excuse?” I questioned “Yeah” he answered “Ok. So how did you know where I lived?” I repeated “Would you believe me if I told you I could read minds?” I raised my eyebrows “No, sorry. You’re going to have to come up with a better excuse than that. I will let you think about it.” He smiled “Coming?” he said “Yeah, Emmmm… where?” “Let’s find out” he replied “You mean you don’t know where you are going” I questioned “Of course I do.” Lucas drove for about 45 minutes until we stopped in front of a large building. It was covered in fancy lights and around it were lots of palm trees. I knew it was a classic casino. “Jacks casino” he said “Oh… Emmmm cool” I replied “I’ve never been to a casino before” “Good” We got out of the car and started to walk towards the building. Inside was cool, there were lots of coin machines, electronic gaming machines and tables where I presume people played those weird card games. “Want a drink?” Lucas asked “Water, thanks” I said “Two waters please” Lucas said to the bar-man “Sure” he replied. Lucas passed me a glass of water and gestured for me to follow him. I did. I would be glad when we got out of here; people were staring at me strangely. “Ignore them” Lucas whispered was he reading my mind. He knew where I lived, he knew what I was thinking. What else did he know? “A lot” he said. “How are you doing that?” “Doing what?” he answered “Seriously. It’s like you’re reading my mind, it’s kinda creepy.” I said “I told you I could” “I believe you” I whispered. We carried on wal
