Chapter 20 "No. No. No" I squeaked. "Open your eyes" Leo asked for the 8th time. It wasn't happening. I don't even know how I'm still alive after that. Note to self: Leo cannot ride a motorbike. "Open your eyes and get off the damn bike" He growled in frustration. "No" "But we are here" I shook my head. He groaned and leaned on the bike making it tip slightly. "Do you wanna see Jake or not?" Jake. I had forgot about him. My eyes instantly flung open and I saw him smile. I jumped off the bike. "Finally" I glared at him. "You do like him, don't you? Anyone can see that" "I don't" Liar! Liar! Liar! I covered my cheeks with my hair. He would not see me blush, or giggle or do anything to show that I liked him. I can't have Leo telling jake that If jake doesn't feel the same. He'd tease me. He'd ruin my life. "Yeah... Right...." "Just take me in to see him" He smirked at me before leading the way inside.
I didn't have a clue where I was going. Leo leaned on the desk, casually, like he had done this a million times before. "You're here again?" Said the woman behind the desk. "Yeah well.... Friends...." "Who is it this time? Kurt? Perry? Jack?" I recognised the names, jakes friends that I had met. Could it really have been just yesterday? "Jake. His girlfriend wants to see him actually, not me" Leo pulled me forward. "Hi" She shook her head at me and scrunched up her face. "Not really jakes type" She said. Was I not here?!?! "I know" She typed something into the computer and rolled her eyes. "Just like jake. He got away again" Wait what? Jake isn't here? "What?" I spoke up. "Leo people are waiting. You need to leave. Take jakes girlfriend too" "Pff fine" Leo grabbed my wrist and pulled me out. "Where could he be?" I asked as he dragged me to the bike. "Dunno. Don't think he will be back for a while though" "Why?" "He needs to let it settle down first before he comes back. Few weeks. Few months-" "A few months?" "Yeah" I stayed silent for the remainder of the way home. No jake. Not for a few months. I didnt even realise the speed and danger of the motorcycle. All I could think of was having no jake for months. I didn't like this. I didn't want this. Not being able to see him for a few months.
We both got off the bike at jakes house. "If you see him, will you-?" Leo cut me off. "Sure. I won't though" I nodded and walked in.
I found Mrs Steinwood in the kitchen. I thought she wasn't back for a few days? Did she know about jake? "Do you know about-? She cut me off. "Jake? Yes" She sighed. "Did you know that he's-?" "Escaped? Yes" "Has he ever done this before?" "Yes. Twice" Twice? Please say he came back with in a few days. A few days please. "How long until he came back?" "4 months the first time and 2 months the second time" No. Please no. Tears sprang to my eyes. I love him. This was the first time I'd actually realised it but I did. It wasn't that I really liked him. I actually loved him. And now I wouldn't see him for a few months? "Are you alright?" Mrs Steinwood asked. "Yeah. I guess I'm just worried about him" "Don't be. He can take care of himself" Why would he do this to me? Why would he leave me now? "I'm just gonna go to my room. I have errr.... A test to study for" "He'll be fine. He's had to live on his own quite a lot and he has a few houses" I nodded and ran upstairs. If his mom could deal with her son not being here then I should be able to. Please come back jake. Please....
