Claire's Song

I was walking home, on a summers night.
I saw a pretty girl, under an old street light.

So I called your name.
But it was'nt you.
And the fading sun, it turned to blue.

I've been wondering.
If I see you again
would you look like you.
Do you still look the same.

I've been wondering.
If I saw you again
Would I notice you...
My long lost friend.

Little braids.
That's how you wore your hair.
Beat up sneakers, you only had a pair.
Skinny jeans is all you'd ever wear. Did you change your style?... Boho Claire.

I was heading out
On a summers day
I saw a skinny girl
And she looked my way.

I hoped that she was you.
Wished that this was true.
But I was wrong again
She's just someone new.

I've been wondering.
If I saw you today
Could I make you stop
Could I ask you to stay?

I've been wondering
If I saw you on my way.
Would you know me from...
The good old days.

I was heading out
For a pack of smokes
When I saw this girl
And I nearly choked.

Silver pendant
Like the one you wore.
Blonde with blue-grey eyes
Like the girl next door.

She looked at me.
And said, what's the deal with you?

I said
You remind me of...
A girl that I once knew.
Then she said to me, tell me, what was her name?

I said
We used to call her Claire.
But I think that's changed.

I've been wondering.
If I would know your eyes.
Or are you someone who
I would'nt recognise.

I've been wondering
For so damn long

What you look like now...

And where you've gone.
