Chapter 5
‘Tom I am not jumping off a 5m platform!’ I announced.
‘Do the spring board then’ He offered, bobbing up and down in the water. ‘And you’re not jumping, it’s called diving darling’ he corrected. ‘Just do a basic dive!’
‘Alright then’ I gave in, it couldn’t be that bad.
‘Yes!!’ He cheered, moving from in front the board to the side of the pool. I climbed up the steps to get out the pool, and then climbed up the steps along the spring board, standing on the end. ‘Go on then!’ Tom laughed.
‘You being the perfectionist you are, are putting me off!’ I told him, sticking my bottom lip out.
‘I won’t say anything, promise!’ He promised me. I began jumping on the end, before I leapt into the air, as my body became vertical with the water, I straightened it out and locked my arms above my head, as my body went into the water. ‘Not bad for your first go, well done’ Tom complimented after I swim back up to the surface. ‘Stick to the day job though’ he winked at me.
‘Cheek!!’ I gasped playfully, as I began splashing him with water.
‘Ok! I’m sorry’ he laughed, his laugh was the best sound in the world. I stopped splashing him with water, and swam closer to him. ‘Maddy’ He spoke my name, with a serious tone to his voice.
‘Thomas’ I spoke back in the same tone.
‘Err.. Could I take you out tonight?’ He asked, he seemed kind of nervous, bless him.
‘Is this your way of asking me out on a date?’ I winked at him.
‘Do you want it to be?’ He questioned, with a smirk on his lips.
‘Do you? You asked first’ I told him, to which he nodded. ‘Good, cause my answer would be exactly the same.’
‘Good’ he smiled. As we headed out of the pool, my hands had gone slightly wrinkly due to how long we’d been there, as it now was half 3. ‘I’ll pick you up at seven’ He grinned, as we both headed to our separate changing rooms.
