Chapter 19:
Maddy’s P.O.V
I could hear, Tonia and Sarah shouting at each other to take the freebies out the room. Chris and Jack moaning because they just woke up and that was it, the other people on our floor must have been asleep. We opened the door and the suitcases were packed except a few clothes on the bed and the stuff in the safe.
‘I can’t wait to get back!’ I flopped on the bed, ‘You’re forgetting we are leaving for Spain a few hours after we get back!’ Tom reminded me. ‘Oh Yeh! I can’t wait but we have to go in the car!’ I answered him. ‘Oh sh! We will be awesome!’ He said while poking my nose tip, ‘I know, we are going to have fun but we have to come back early because training!’ I said. ‘I know! It sucks, dude!’ He laughed. I just closed my eyes to rest them and the next thing I knew Tom was saying ‘5 Minutes till we leave! Wake up!’ I said. I woke up and jumped off the bed Tonia was stood at the door with everyone, ‘Sorry!!! Let me just open the safe!’ I said.
I triple jumped to the safe, got the stuff, double checked the room and left the room. We were all walking down the corridors and checked out. We hoped in a mini bus and within 15 minutes we were at the airport. The line was huge and only one desk was open, I felt really ill too. ‘Im going to the loo and to get a drink anyone want a drink??’ I asked, ‘Yeh please!’ They replied in unison. ‘Water or??’ before I could say anything else they all spat out different drink names at me. ‘Okay! I’ll get all those!’ I answered.
I went to the toilet and the smell of the cleaning fluids made me puke up. ‘Eww! The smell!’ I thought. I walked to the mirrors re did my makeup and freshened up. I walked out and Jack was stood at the door, ‘What are you doing here! I thought you were in line!’ I asked. ‘Yeh well you took ages! And I know you’re sick!’ He answered. ‘Im not sick! I just puked!’ I added. ‘Yeh, you were sick!’ He said, ‘Okay! Yeh but I’m fine as soon as we are back home I’ll be fine!’ I persisted, as I paid for all the drinks.
We walked over to the desk tom rubbing his forehead with his hands, Chris with his hands in his face. ‘What’s up??’ Jack asked, ‘We can’t go home for another day’ Chris furiously looked up from his hands. ‘You what?, I missed Freya’s birthday yesterday and training starts tomorrow’ Jack stressed. ‘But we are supposed to go on holiday’ I said. Before anyone could reply the women came over to us. ‘We can put three of you on the flight but the next flight I tomorrow’ the women told us.
We walked over to everyone and told them the situation. We sorted it out and Tom, Chris and Jack were all going home today; the rest of us were staying here. The boy’s went and checked in they came back over, Tom took me to the side ‘I’ll see you when I get back, I have called Andy and he is going to get you tomorrow and you’re going to stay at his okay?’ He informed me. ‘Yeh that’s fine, I can’t believe I’m starting in a new pool without you, have fun and call me every single night, okay?’ I whispered into his hug, ‘Okay! I Love You Maddy!’ He said to me. I had tears streaming down my face ‘Love you Tom! I’ll see you next week okay?’ I said, by now everyone had joined us. I gave him a hug, then Jack and then Chris, ‘Bye!’ I sobbed.
They walked through all the security and as soon as they were out of sight we checked into a hotel. I called Debbie to tell her what was going on.
Ben: Hello
Me: Is your mum there?
B: have you been crying?
M: no just get your mum please?
Ben: Fine
Debbie: Hello!
M: Hey, urm Tom is on a flight now, it takes off in 5 minutes but Tonia, Sarah, Pete, Nick, Monique, Stacie, Alicia and I are still here.
D: Oh, so you can’t come on holiday with us?
M: No, I’m so sorry!
D: Don’t be sorry, it’s fine! I’ll leave a key?
M: Nope, we have that sorted I’m going to Andy’s for the week I can start training too.
D: Okay sweetheart well I’ll get Tom to call you in a few hours when he has landed, bye!
M: Bye!
I was the last one to check in and Alicia was sharing with me, Alicia is amazing, she’s an amazing friend and diver. I sat up waiting for Tom’s call the flight is like 5 hours and it had been 5 hours, ‘Why hasn’t he called me?’ I asked her, ‘none of them have tweeted so don’t worry!’ she encouraged. ‘Okay! I just hope they are okay!’ I answered. ‘They will be fine now let’s go get some food!’ She jumped of the bed to the door. I followed her we walked down to the food hall and it was like food heaven.
They had a chocolate fountain and it was all you can eat. Can you complain, NO. Just the fact Andy is going to make me train tomorrow night. How fun for me, I was in the middle of devouring mine and Alicia’s chocolate fountain castle when my phone buzzed. ‘Excuse me, I’ll be back’ I giggled to her. I walked out the door and answered my phone.
M: Hello?
Tom: Hey Baby! How are you? What are you doing?
M: Oh hey! I’m fine + we are in the middle of devouring our chocolate fountain castle
T: I’m at home repacking for Spain, we leave in an hour, who’s we??
M: Alicia and I and have fun!
T: I will but don’t have too much training, Oh guess what?
M: Oh Yeh I will! What??
T: Will has a girlfriend!
M: Really, ohm will has a girlfriend! Tom I need to go its like 8 o’clock here and I’m going to eat and then get some sleep because I will probably have training tomorrow night! Bye, Love You!
T: Bye Love You More!
I walked over to the table and Tonia and Sarah had another huge bowl of chocolate fountain stuff. We sat there for another hour till we walked back to the rooms, I ended up falling asleep in my clothes and with Tonia sharing with me. Awakening to the sound of Nick banging on the door ‘Girls, wake up!’ OR Pete joining in and saying ‘We’re going to leave you!’ I jumped up and shouted out to them ‘We’re up! How long?’, ‘Bout 20 minutes!’.
I jumped on the other girls and woke them up. ‘We’ve got 20 minutes till we have to leave the hotel!’ I said, Tonia and Sarah ran to their room while Alicia and I got ready, when we reached the lobby everyone was stood there. ‘You guy’s ready now?’ The asked, ‘Yeah!’ We nodded. We walked through the terminals to the airport and checked in, as soon as we got sorted I called Tom. It rang and he didn’t pick up, I tried a few times and then ended up calling Andy on our way boarding the plane.
A few hours later.
The flight was really Un-comfortable but I suppose it’s because I had Pete and Nick at either side basically squishing me. Getting the luggage was alright we jumped the queues and were the first people to get out. I saw Andy and went straight up to him, his first words were ‘Are you ready to train in a bit?’, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I asked ‘No, Chris did it last night, so you are too’ He replied with a grim look on his face.
‘I’ll give you an hour to get your stuff sorted and then we will go’ He asked me, ‘Fine, okay I’ll go’ I said. ‘Haha, okay!’ After a long boring car journey we got to Andy’s house, I wheeled my suitcase in and he showed me the spare bedroom. ‘I’ll be ready in an hour!’ I shouted through, I got all my clothes out and put them in the washer, I got freshened up and was ready to go train.
It took us about 5 minutes to get to the pool, I was in the water straight away. but not for diving for doing laps, I did a few and then he told me to get out the water, ‘You could be an Olympic swimmer!’ He joked. ‘Oh shut up You!’ I shouted down from the ten metre board. ‘Okay! Do what you did at the Olympics!’ He shouted up.
I got into my position and did my arm stand, he kept on giving me the bad sides and telling me what’s good. It was actually quite fun! He makes such funny jokes and is serious at the same time. After about two hours training we went back’s to Andy’s he lives in apartment blocks and there’s a gym, he made us dinner and I went down to the gym.
But as I got to the door I smelt coffee strong coffee, I was going to be sick. I ran to the nearest bathroom possible and when I walked into the gym Andy was in there waiting for me. ‘Where were you?’ He asked, ‘In the bathroom’ I mumbled, just as he was about to say something and I ran back into the bathroom. I came out after next few minutes and Andy was on the phone all I heard was ‘She has been sick twice in the last few minutes’.
Andy came over to me and gave a little pat on the back, ‘Debbie is on her way back! She isn’t letting Tom come back’ He sighed to me. ‘No! She can’t come back!’ I shouted, ‘She’s bringing Will back!, they will be here by the morning and this doesn’t get you out of training you know. ‘Ugh!’ I moaned, ‘come on let’s get you upstairs! By the stairs!’ He added. We walked up a flight of stairs and then took the elevator, we got in and I walked straight to the bed.
It was about 8 o’clock in the morning, I walked into the kitchen and had to walk out straight away, the smell of coffee, made me gag. I walked into my room and trailing behind me was Andy with a tray full of food. ‘Omg! I’m starving!’ I said, ‘But you’re sick, I was hoping to eat it for you but here you go’ He laughed. He sat on the edge of the bed telling me that Debbie is going to pick me up from training, ‘Ugh!’ I moaned at the word training while stuffing my face with bacon. ‘Yes training, you need to get back in shape you’ve put on fat while you have been away!’ He moaned back at me.
After I was finished eating I drove to the training pool in Andy’s car and trained. About two hours later Debbie came in and sat on the stone bench’s watching me dive, it reminded me of my mum.
