Sitting on the grass at the top of the cliff, we shared a bottle of red wine. The only sound was the rustling of the trees as the wind blew, sending goosebumps on our bare arms.
I hugged my knees to my chest and accepted her offer of the bottle gratefully. The alcohol will make me warm.
I took a long swig from the bottle and handed it back over to her, her hand brushing mine with the transaction.
Our eyes met and she giggled, snuggling closer to me to keep warm.
I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and kissed her hair.
Looking out from atop the cliff, we saw the expansion of the city before us, feeling free of the troubles that burdened us.
She lifted her chin and grabbed my head with her hand, our lips meeting. Her breath was warm and tasted of alcohol as it mixed with mine. I clutched her to me, absorbing the warmth of her body. She moved onto my lap, the bottle of wine lying empty beside us.
I ran my fingers through her long hair, trailing my fingers down her spine, circling her waist in my arms.
She sighed as she kissed her way down my neck, raising the hairs on the back of my neck.
"Alice?" I sighed as she slowly kissed her way back to my lips.
She kept kissing me and wrapped her legs around my waist. I pushed her away.
"Alice," I repeated.
She pushed my grown-out bangs away from my face. "Mmhmm?"
"I don't know if I can..." I lowered my gaze from her big, green eyes.
"Shhh," she whispered before beginning to kiss me again.
Just as our tongues intertwined, she pulled away and said, "I know that this is hard for you."
My eyes watered at the thought of what would happen if my parents found out that I was into girls.
"I'm just...I'm scared..." I whispered.
She hugged me to her, kissing my check chastely and then she stood up from my lap, rendering me alone and helpless in fighting the cold wind. She held out her hand, and I looked up at her questioningly.
"I promised you that it'll be okay, didn't I?" she asked.
I nodded my head.
"But do you trust me?"
I stared up into her honest, big, green eyes that were set into her solemn, pale face. The wind picked up and her long, brown hair billowed behind her. She looked at me, waiting for my reply.
But I didn't reply.
Instead, I reached up for her hand, sealing her promise once again.
