Magnolia scented Southern breezes wafting through the night Carry now a darker scent of something not quite right.
A colored man forgot his manners earlier in the week. He thought the jeers his daughter heard gave him the right to speak.
As if this trouble couldn't have been easily ignored! It isn't like that little tramp won't likely be a whore.
But, no! He had to lecture sons of pillars of the town. He forced our hand; this could ignite rebellion to put down!
The white sheets that come out tonight preserve a way of life, Protect the status quo, and thus preventing future strife.
So now the acrid smoke of burning crosses taints the air, And to the neighbors, screams and pleading serve as warning fair.
A once proud man is forced to beg for mercy on his knees, And soon a much more rancid odor dominates the breeze.
Burning hair and crackling flesh, a sacrificial pyre! The Ku Klux Klan has made its stand, and left a warning dire.
