My feet are now standing where they’ve never been before...
The surroundings are unfamiliar... the sky is a different blue to where I’ve been... the grass is a different shade of green...
If you ask me how I got here, I can tell you.
If you ask me why I am here, I can tell you.
If you ask me what I am doing here, I can also tell you.
But if you ask me why I am still here, it will take time to give you an answer...
Searching deep into my thoughts... deeper and deeper looking for an answer and cannot find one.
Perhaps...the answer is not there in my thoughts. Perhaps I’ve been looking at the wrong place.
In front of me there is a big tree. In fact, the only thing I can see in front of me is a big tree.
The tree is standing there... alone... appearing so strong...
It looks like it’s going to rain soon...I should rest under the shade of that big tree...
Viriya: Hello Mr. Tree
Tree: ...
Viriya: Can I rest here under your shades Mr. Tree?
Tree: ...
Viriya: What kind of tree are you Mr. Tree?
Tree: Can’t you just rest peacefully human?
Viriya: I thought you weren’t going to speak to me.
Tree: You thought I wasn’t going to speak to you, or did you think that I couldn’t speak?
Viriya: both. What kind of tree are you Mr. Tree?
Tree: smile you do not need to know
Viriya: ... well... let me introduce myself, my name is Viriya.
Tree: I don’t need to know that human.
Viriya: but I want you to know my name! At least I want you to know who you are speaking to...and I want to know what kind of tree I am speaking to as well.
Tree: What will you do with that information? It’s unnecessary... I know that you’re a human. You know that I am a tree... that is enough.
Viriya: How did you get here Mr. Tree?
Tree: Long long ago...the wind took me here. I was but a seed... then I grew.
Viriya: ....why are you here Mr. Tree? From what I can see... I can only see you here...only you and nothing else.
Tree: I am a tree human... when I have chosen to be somewhere, I will always be there. I will never leave. I chose to be here...and I will always be here.
Viriya: I envy you
Tree: why do you envy me human?
Viriya: I want to find a perfect place for me... just the right place, the right atmosphere, the right air to breath, the right food for my life... and I want to always be there...never have to leave.
Tree: You cannot be like me... you’re a human and I am a tree. You have feet for a purpose... human have feet because they’re travellers... keep going wherever your feet take you human. You were born a human...don’t envy a tree.
Viriya: Why are you still here Mr. Tree...don’t you ever want to leave? Do thoughts of leaving ever came to your mind at all? I can help you, you know...if you want to leave.
Tree: no no no... thank you for the offer human, but I do not want to leave. My roots have gone too deep. If I leave...I may die. Let me ask you... how did you get here human?
Viriya: I came here by opening doors... the last door I opened, brought me here.
Tree: Why are you here human?
Viriya: to get as many keys as possible... so when the time comes... when I encounter a door I want to open... I will have the right key to open it.
Tree: Why are you still here human?
Viriya: ....
Tree: are you still here because you haven’t found enough keys, or are you still here because you haven’t encountered a door you want to open?
Viriya: ...
Tree: which one is it?
Viriya: I think the reason is more because I haven’t found enough keys.
Tree: if you want to find the keys...you will have to be looking for it. Resting here talking with me will not bring you any keys you know that right?
Viriya: But it is raining... I don’t want to get rained on... it’s wet and cold.
Tree: Human... You know that you and I are very different right?
Viriya: Yes I do. You are a tree, and I am a human...we are very different.
Tree: ...but we have one thing in common
Viriya: what is that Mr. Tree?
Tree: Both of us are standing under the sky.
Viriya: .....true But so does everything.
Tree: ignoring Where does the rain falling from human?
Viriya: ....from the sky
Tree: So...as long as you are standing under the sky, do not fear the rain...
Viriya: but right now I am standing under you, Mr. Tree
Tree: I thought you have to look for keys?
Viriya: ...your shades are so comfortable, and talking to you is enjoyable... I think I am going to be here for a while.
Tree: well...if you are going to stay here a while...you can enjoy the blossom
Viriya: ahh...I would love to see you blossom Mr. Tree
Tree: Do you like flowers human?
Viriya: yes...they are beautiful!
Tree: Do you know that you and flowers are very different right, human?
Viriya: ...errr yes. I am a human, and flowers are flowers.
Tree: There is one thing about flowers...
Viriya: What is it?
Tree: they blossom once. Only once... They have only once chance to be as beautiful as they could be. I am a tree... I give each flower a chance to blossom. But...how beautifully each flower can blossom...is up to them. When the flowers blossom with pride, people can admire them...and then when the time is up...they will be gone, but people who have seen them...will remember them and recall how beautiful they were.
Viriya: ...
Tree: that is the only one thing in common between you and flowers, human.
Viriya: What do I have in common with flowers?
Tree: both of you have only once chance to blossom. ...you only blossom once too, human
Viriya: Have I blossomed?
Tree: ...what do you think? Do you think that you have blossomed?
Viriya: ...no...I don’t think I have
Tree: then you probably haven’t
Viriya: When will I blossom Mr. Tree?
Tree: I don’t need to know that human... and I never look for an answer... you will blossom, when you blossom. If you are unlucky...you may even blossom without knowing it...and you will leave without knowing it... and no one will know
Viriya: I don’t want to be like that. Can you let me know when I blossom?
Tree: why are you here human?
Viriya: I am here to look for keys... so that when the time has come; when I encounter a door I want to open...I will have the right key to open it.
Tree: keep looking for the keys... I hope that when “the time” has come...you will be able to open the door. I don’t know what kind of door you want to open human. Therefore, I don’t know what kind of keys you should be looking for...but keep looking
Viriya: what if I find so many keys...but none of them is the right key?
Tree: at least you will have many other doors that you can open with all those keys that you have, Viriya... You said that you came here by opening doors? That means you have found the right keys before...Viriya
Viriya: Oh... you call my name! smile I thought you said you don’t need to know my name.
Tree: I now want to know you name Viriya... so that I can recall
Viriya: why?
Tree: So that when you leave...I can remember you. You may think that you have not blossomed Viriya and many people ahead of you will also think that you have yet to blossom because you have yet to open the door ahead of you... but to some people, who have not the chance to open the door that you have just opened behind you...will think about how beautifully you have blossomed Viriya.
Viriya: but you said I can only blossom once!
Tree: I did... so make the most out of it Viriya.
Viriya: .....
Tree: You may blossom once Viriya... but your time is not up yet...make the most out of it...
Viriya: ......
How did I get here?
Why am I here?
Why am I still here?
Of course I know the answers to this question.
I didn’t need to search far and deep into my thoughts for these answer... the answers are not there in my thoughts...
How did I get here? ....the answer is behind me.
Why am I here? ....the answer is with me.
Why am I still here? ....the answer is ...in front of me.
Viriya
