The icy wind was harsh, as was the tone in his voice. He said: "One of us has to die! We have no other Choice!"

They all looked at each other, each trusting his words where true. He said: "My friends, the needs of the many, far outweigh the needs of the few.".

It had been a bitter winter, and the snow outside was deep. The men nervously looked at the women, and the children began to weep.

"Daniel this is madness! There must be another way? Daniel, you are a man of god! Should we not at least pray?".

The preacher grew in posture, and said: "Pray is what you suggest? God is an absentee landlord, I do not say this to you in jest!"

"Outside the wolves are howling, our children's stomachs are too! Peter, we are starving! What else can we do?".

Peter than said to Daniel: "I have a far better idea. If we can turn on each other, of wolves there is nothing to fear!"

"And Daniel I know that they're many, and we are both hungry and weak, but I'd rather chance the jaws of death, than think of this deed that you speak".

"How will we fight them Peter? How would you have us armed? What of the women and children? What of them if we are harmed?".

"and Peter, what would the point be? You would only serve to feed them. If your so willing to die for the wolves, then why not die to feed friends?".

Peter locked eyes with Daniel, subdued by his ravenous glare. "You will go to hell for this Daniel!". Daniel said: "I'll see you there!".

Peter knelt before Daniel, as children where ushered away. "Now's your chance", said Daniel to Peter. "Go ahead Peter and pray."

"Peter, for years I thought I knew him, and for years I thought he knew me, but it's a one sided relationship Peter. Go ahead, Pray, you will see.".

Peter clasped his hands, closed his eyes and lowered his head. Daniel was handed a knife from the crowd, and in moments Peter was dead.

The icy wind was harsh. The land was thick with frost. In the cold hearts of the damned, to live life must be lost.
