If The Valleys were to be famed for one thing, I think it would be the nationalistic pride instilled in all true residents, dating back hundreds of years
Many would disagree with me, choosing to linger on poverty and violence mixed with underage pregnancies.
Yet, which group is worse be? The pride-filled ones, albeit looking on the positive side, are clinging with slipping finger to a history that saw workmens institutions as places of work, great libraries-a chance to advance! Now, one looks at these dusty structures and sees men falling out of them. Drunk. Out of their minds. Whilst teenagers sit on the steps, smoking and hoping for a chance to be let in.
Where does the pride come from these days? If not from the hard-working labourers so desperate to change they work 12-hour-shifts then go to night classes?
No-where, is the Valleys answer.
