A muttering forest far from home soil. The peace, solitary, helps the mind to uncoil. Trivial worries are snagged in the boughs The kind of retreat only distance allows.

I yawn as the bass notes of home call me back And the journey begins on the sunset's bronze track. Gathering speed as the swollen moon rises Travel's adventure - bring on the surprises!

The thundering horses - black blur on the plateau - Career through the mountains, the light from the Chateau. A whip-cracker vocal will spur on the stallion... Convey to the bay where I'm taking a galleon.

The quayside taverna is throbbing with life. I dance, perhaps bravely, with the Commandant's wife. In the brawl (which I started) I laugh until crying: I use Madame's bedpan to fend off fists flying.

Hung over, not hanged yet, I skulk to the quay And wave to the continent, saved by the sea Ancient leviathans circling beneath We pull out of tempests by skin of our teeth.

Over the ocean I skip like a stone Sometimes with comrades and sometimes alone Mishaps and mayhem. The dregs of a bottle. Smoky and smiling I'm moving full-throttle

A car and a carriage, a plane and a train, A sunlight backpacker, a rider in rain. The sand dunes and snowdrifts may snap at my heels But I'm homing by footfall and wing, hull and wheels.

Finally slowing, in cab through the fog I yearn for the fireside, my loved-ones, the dog. And on goes the phone... All the apps are updating. I'm out of the woods - I see Opuss is waiting :-)
