We got to thinking About why you're with me Just another man in the men's room Pissing seconds at the stall.
You don't need me for DIY; Your friends and cousins Own a maintenance business And they'd fix the cloud-vaulted heavens If you asked them to.
You don't need me to drive; You're confident and crazy And your colourful language Would make rainbows blush When motorists take risks Just like you take them.
You don't need my security; Your family is larger than history And love you larger than the galaxy Not hell not high water would stop them Riding to your aid if you should call.
Don't need my wages - You can work or claim or invent Cash of your own. You showed me how. You're brilliant. Independent...Married. You said I don't hold you back, but...
Before 'us' you had strings of friends Time and freedom, schemes, less kids, more space. Is this an effort for you - Keeping this fifth wheel spinning?
Thankfully I found my purpose.. The one thing I could be That you could not. When men broke in And risk to life came too
I kept them busy with my ribs My blood bought you time To pass out the baby To neighbours, then the toddlers My foetal form gave them kicks While you and the children cried next door.
From wherever this is, I watch, content: You live your life on all four wheels And smile back at me In my place. I got my moment... My time to be What you should never be: The best kind of disposable.
