I've always been a fan of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" and this is a poem I wrote when I was younger inspired by his tale. It was originally a part of a short story I wrote which was sort of a spinoff of that where Alice has a daughter and she descends into her own wonderland. But I do like this poem a little more than the story. Hope you enjoy.
~Dearest Mother~
I didn't know you very well But from your picture I can tell That we're the same, you and me In all the things that we have seen
They miss you, you know The tea parties they throw Are not the same without you the hatter doesn't much know what to do!
"We all miss you terribly!" Says the cat that's never there off time and running in circles Is that lonely hare
Croquet is now a boring game And everyone's lost their heads The red and white queens are fighting again They're tearing the kingdoms to shreds!
Oh mother dear mother you must come back Solving problems like this, I just don't have the knack Poor hatter dear hatter no one serves his tea He says only Alice can do it, so he sent to you this plea
"Little Alice where've you gone? And without your tea and cake! Oh Alice dear Alice these hats aren't right......I think I need a break Alice my sweet I think I must confess, I have no idea why a raven is like a writing desk!"
Even the sky is missing you, Rain never stops coming down And all the lobsters want to dance But their ballroom is being drowned
Alice mother please come back I really need a hand! Because with every Alice, There is a Wonderland.
