It depends on what kind of person u are, if u are living in an apartment a small dog would be good for u. If u want to run with a dog a lab golden retriever, a border collie, a borador (lab border collie mix) I have a borador she is mixed with a black lab she is really smart but not obedient.I got the invisible fence for her before that she went in the neighbors' yard they have a sweet pool! When u first get a dog u haft to get a collar, batteries, u haft to put flags up all around Ur yard. U haft to have a person from the company come out and teach Ur dog at first Ur sad cause u don't want Ur dog to get shocked...but u know it is for its own good. When the person leaves,u need to get a long leash and just walk her around for a while before leaving her out on her own.
The first thing u need to to when u get the dog is get chew toys rawhide is great for all dogs,but if u have an aggressive chewer get the kong brand. They are expensive. Get the black colored it says on the box. I got my dog my dog a average chewer toy (red) she ripped it apart! If Ur dog is a puppy when u first get it lay down news paper get a doggy bed a bag of puppy chow too.
Get some baby gates. Get some sleep during the day! Because u haft to say "shh quiet" it whines all night! I have the Landry room as my dogs room I put gate up and she went crazy it stuck its nose thou the diamonds and barking and crying. I Took the gate Down and closed the door she did the same thing. I thought I messed up big time getting a dum dog. I slept in the same room with it for about a week I was getting tired of being cooped up with her I had a sore neck from my couch. I called my dad up to watch her for the day I went grocery shopping then to pet smart they said To practice with the door and give her a treat that she never gets. It took some time but she came around know. Even though u take Ur dog on walks, u still haft to go to the park.Not by a river! A nice open space to Ur dog it would be like u in a candy store! When it is tired put it back on the leash and take
it home. My next story will be about what kind of dog will be good for u.:) comment!
