I remember when I went to elementary school. The school was called Heritage Elementary, and this had to have happened in third or fourth grade, probably fourth. This was the year in which I really started to get acquainted with my first big group of friends. We all went after school at the sock-hop, a casual type thing where music was played and you could dance to it if you choose. Instead of dancing we all just walked around the school, goofing off and doing what kids usually do. I can't remember how or when, and I don't suspect anyone did either, the rumor started. I just know that it did. It was usually told during sock-hops and goes like this: There is an old locked room in the gym and in that room lives the ghost of a dead person, a dead girl if I remember correctly. The girl was murdered in the room during one of these very sock-hops. Because this is the night she was killed, every year on the sock-hop she came out to attempt escape by pulling a new, different person into the room to replace her. We didn't really believe it too much, it was there and seeing as no one ever went into that room and we were never told what was in it, we still thought the tale was plausible. So then, we heard a cry, no, more of a ghoulish wail. Because of this and our curiosity, we asked around but no one seemed to know who, or what, made the noise. It seemed that our group was the only one to hear it. Then we heard it again. By now we were sure it was the ghost released and awakened. Of course now I know it wasn't that, but no one ever said who did it, and even after we were allowed to see what was in the room, just storage for gym equipment, some of us were still skeptics. Ghosts are hard to see of course, and especially if they only show up once a year to try to escape.
As always, ZenMercury
