Hello again, and today is Sunday, March 3, 2013. Today I watched the film “Branded” which had recieved many bad reviews attacking it for is disorganization, false advertising, and being a lackluster film in general. I, for one, enjoyed the film so this will be in the defense of “Branded.” First off, many people said that the film was slow or sluggish and boring. But that was only if you took the film's content at face value. Under the dialogue is a world rich in allusions and metophors. In the begining and throughout the film, you see the symbol of a cow or bull keep popping up. You might think that it is just a coincidence or referring to the bull markets but it instead is referring to how cows used to be 'branded' with a hot iron. The people who criticize the movie for a poor and hypocritical trailer that falsely advertised itself when the film attacks false advertising, do not see that this was cleverly crafted by the movie itself to create a piece of irony as a jumping off point to show how advertising effects us. In all, the film is amazing if you understand it but, excuse the language, utter shit if you don't.
As always,
ZenMercury, Keep calm, and have you seen the movie? If so please say what you thought of it, or watch it yourself then say what you think.
