Chapter 1

Ring! Ring! The jarring sound of the alarm clock woke me. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a piece of cold bread from the refrigerator and my book-bag off of the piano bench, and went on my way to school. Just before I could get out of the driveway, my mom yelled "Wait!" I quickly spun around and stopped. "What?" I asked. She replied; "I wanted to drive you to school today." "Why?" "Because it'll be so much fun!" she cheerily answered. "I kinda like the bus, but, okay." I got in the car and we drove to Washington High School, I attend the eighth grade and live in Princess Anne. Mind you, Princess Anne is a place not a person, and I don't live inside of a princess named Anne. The drive to school was an awkward and quiet one. I just sat there and ate my cold bread. My mom was listening to the radio as it pumped out the atrocious sounds of today's singers. If you can still call it singing, that is. Just after getting through the door I was greeted by Ren who, even though I don't like giving labels to people, is my best friend. Soon enough though, we parted and had to get to class. We were helpfully reminded by a stern faced and stern worded teacher. After I put my stuff in my locker, I drifted towards class to “enrich” my mind with the same facts the teachers were teaching since something like nineteen seventy two. At least there are people like Ren that can stay sane and themself in this place.
