Dear Ann
Hey honey not sure if your going to get this letter or not but it's worth a try! Anyway the British are still on the front line yes I know it's almost Christmas so I thought I would write you this letter as a small Christmas present.
I know I can't be with you on Christmas day this year but hopefully I can next year if the war against Germany ends before then.
Seeing as its Christmas eve the Germans have stopped firing guns at us at lit some candles and singing the song "silent night" it's good not to be firing guns because my hands get cold quickly.
I had this friend called Peter he died saving my life he was such a nice old chap. You would of liked him he talked about home a few times but he said he wanted to fight for Britain so he could then marry his girlfriend at Christmas.
Anyway I've got to go now and finishing eating dinner hope to see you soon,
