Two months had passed.

The crowds had died down a little. We were more of a sideshow. They had delivered two extinct elephants three weeks ago, and it just so happened that the two mated the first day they met. So now they're a bigger attraction than ever. Apparently Hurricane had noticed that we were in a zoo. I didn't know what a zoo was, but it must have been something that would benefit my captors to send me here.

My days were different now. Hurricane and I were planning how to escape the 'zoo'. There was a wild somewhere. A wild where we could hunt, and sleep, and eat in peace. And we were determined to get there.

But there was something troubling my mind.

If Hurricane ever got me pregnant. I was sure I would be killed after I gave birth, to feed the baby. Some sort of way to give genetically altered babies strength.

I could not have a baby until we escaped.

Or could I?

'Hurricane. Listen.' I said in my mind. Hurricane purred softly. 'What is it?' I heard. His voice was cracked and deep, such a powerful voice. I wondered what he would look like if he were a man. 'I don't know either.' I heard. If I had cheeks I would have blushed. I forgot he could read my thoughts. 'Sorry!' I thought. How embarrassing. 'it's not a problem. What were you going to tell me?' he asked. 'I have an escape plan.' I bared my teeth, a catlike smile. 'Tell me. I must know.' I heard. 'Well, it's quite embarrassing.' I wrinkled my nose. 'Don't worry. I won't think any lesser of you.' hurricane licked my ears. 'You know that we are transported to the maternity room when a female is giving birth?' I asked. 'Yes, they transport the husband too, for moral support I guess. We are human.' I heard. My heartbeat rose slightly. I felt flustered. 'Well. They carry us in one wooden crate.' I bared my teeth again. My plan seemed realistic. 'You mean we can break out of the crate? We are strong enough.' Hurricane gave a small purr in agreement. 'Yes. And we can escape into the woodlands at the back of the zoo. You have seen them?' I asked. 'Yes I have, perfect for us. Completely wild. Nobody dares to go there.' Hurricane pressed his nose against mine. 'But there's one small problem.' I thought. 'Which is?' Hurricane pressed my nose even harder. 'For this to work. Well.. I need to be pregnant.' I pulled back. 'That can easily be accomplished.' Hurricane growled seductively. We broke off because the American man was speaking. "Roll up! Roll up! Come see the panthers in love! We've just had news that Ailsa is in season!" The American man laughed, and the crowds circled our enclosure. 'It's now or never.' I thought. As I felt Hurricane's front paws grab my back...
