We stroll along the sandy plains of the beach, hand in hand. Huge cliffs tower above us, their jagged edges pointing out to te turquoise waves.
I feel her presence within my heart. I really love this girl. Lucy glances up at me, her soft, kind hazel eyes making my heart skip a beat. 'I love you.' I say
'I love you more' she cheekily replies, a grin stretching across her beautiful ebony skin.
This is the woman I want to grow old with, have three kids and have a mortgage
Then the earth trembles and I lose her forever.
**************
I stare, transfixed at the framed newspaper article on my faded wallpaper. 'EARTHQUAKE STRIKES SPANISH COAST'.
The memory strikes back into my mind. The screams of terror escaping Lucy's scarlet lips as the cliffs tumble down on top of her. The ground shaking beneath our feet. I feel her last desperate squeeze of her hand as it slips from my grip. 'Lucy!'
The memory floats from my mind every day but always comes drifting back to haunt my thoughts and dreams.
