Next Summer

As I walk along,
The lush green grass,
That bends under my feet,
I close my eyes,
Tilt my head to the sky,
And bask in the midday suns heat,
I say a prayer,
To some unknown deity,
And then leisurely take a seat.

I watch the birds,
Fly high in the sky,
Swooping down looks so much fun,
Cumbersome cows,
With lazy sighs,
Bathe in the heat of the warming sun,
Shorn sheep,
Furiously grazing,
As a flock, they break into a run.

Down by the river,
Cool water is running,
Looking refreshing and very inviting,
A picnic ready,
Good food to be had,
And a glass of wine makes it exciting,
A loved one beside,
Feeling happiness inside,
I hope next summer is this enticing.

@Augustus

I'll probably never grow up and I'll definitely keep making mistakes in life. So I may as well enjoy it!
