If you could shake the happy tree
And dance beneath its open glee,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And hear its leaves and wind agree,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And climb its branches to shout “yippee!”
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And make its creepy crawlies pee,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And imagine its solid heart to be,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And hug its ugly trunk willingly,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And feel its roots tearing free,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And grab its squirrel’s nuts for tea,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And remember its long-span of history,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And talk its language fluently,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And sense its rings of age decree,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And believe it stands for liberty,
Would the World change?
If you could shake the happy tree
And catch its fruit, for you and me,
Would the World change?
If I could shake the happy tree
And do all that’s done, the same as thee,
The World would change a little bit,
Just enough for me.
