Nightshade Part 10

Phillip

I watched as her face twisted in fear, her pupils dilating. She screamed and started to transform. I took a step back and grimaced, the first transformation was always the worst. In the other room I could hear Eliza shouting instructions at me, but I blocked them out. It was her fault that she wasn't ready, she could have told Gwyneth earlier, she could have let me teach her how to control the wolf. She could have stopped this. Now someone was going to get hurt, most probably Gwyn. She paced the tent frantically, trying to look for a way out. I resisted the urge to show her the exit, as strong as it was, I knew that to disturb the wolf in your first transformation makes it harder to control later. Isadora walked through the door, a curious look on her face. When she saw Gywn she backed away, hands in the air, eyes wide.
"Wow. Okay... Um, this is..?" She said, looking at me for an answer.
"Gywn." I replied, quietly. "Your mother was obviously wrong, tonight is the full moon."
Isadora nodded then screamed as the rust-coloured wolf sprinted towards her.

Gwyn

The female in the corner confuses me. I growl yet she does not back off. She acts like the pack leader yet she is not a wolf.
I sniff the air, it smells of wolf. These people are like me, I think. The male is definitely, his skin stinks of the forest and his eyes sparkle with yellow. The female... Not so much, she smells of trees and fur, but not of the wolf kind. I recognise the smell, it makes my nose quiver in excitement. I remember. She is a hare.
I crouch down and run at her. She makes a squeaky noise and turns away as I pounce on her. The male tugs at my neck, pulling me away and I whimper. Something snaps in my brain. My stomach twists, turning inside me, making me feel queasy. My senses dull and the floor flys away from me.
I awake in a quivering heap on the floor, Phillip and Isadora staring worriedly at me.
"W-what happened?" I stammered, not really willing to know the answer.
Phillip spoke first; " You transformed. It's difficult at first by we'll help you to control the wolf. We all will. That's why we're here, we were abandoned by our clans so we joined one purely for shape-shifters."
His deep voice comforted me, and for a moment my heart was filled with longing. His eyes sparkled and seemed to change constantly, shifting from yellow to grey to copper. Isadora said something, but I didn't hear, I was too busy staring at Phillip's eyes.
