The Homework Blues

A blank page,
A Parker pen,
Two hundred words,
Or maybe ten.

I stare at it,
Looking for inspiration,
My head's a blank,
Need determination.

The marking criteria,
They laugh and they taunt,
Looking so smug,
My dreams they will haunt.

I pick up the pen,
And rest my head on the table,
My thoughts drift away,
As far as I'm able.

I sigh and I mumble,
As I hear the news,
I've got some troubles
and,
The homework blues...
