Walking along the tideline
Watching the sun descend
Painting each step as I carry on steadily
The sky is filled with colours
Amber and claret and gold
Filling my inner world with cold warmth
I stop, and look where I am standing.
I have wandered away from the bright shoreline
I stand in shadow, underneath faint stars lost in a murky sky
The sand beneath my bare feet is cold and dry
Hurting my feet,
Tearing the bottom of my jeans
I walk back towards the glittering waters
But I can't turn.
I just keep walking further and further away, lost in self-doubt.
I stop still, close my eyes and concentrate.
I focus on the inspiration around me
My skyline implodes electric blue
Neon purple.
I shatter the invisible barrier, the unseen restraint
And head towards a neon skyline
Electric blue
Neon purple.
