The sun rises
A reminder of the cold day to come
And still you are not here
The view is breathtaking
But it has no allure
When I cannot share it with you
The wind is calm
And sings of your return
Yet you do not appear on the horizon
Instead, I am left stranded
Alone on the dock
Waiting to see your sails
There are no storms
There is no rain
Nature does not notice your absence
Tears well as I wait
And reality seeps in
You're not coming home.
