First Look

And the truth comes out!

Chapter 7
Kayla
It was now Monday and Michael still wasn't out of the hospital. The doctors wanted to keep him in there just in case. He did have a broken skull, after all. I just missed him not being here. I visit him every day though. Even if it's only for a few minutes, I'll still go. I haven't seen Liam lately, and that's a good thing. Maybe he got expelled.

When Wednesday rolled around, I knew Liam hadn't been expelled. I walked into chemistry and he was sitting at our table. I walked over to it and put my binder down without even looking at his gorgeous face. No, I don't need to think about that. He's the enemy! Not with those dreamy blue eyes, he's not. Stop! Focus Kayla, stop thinking about him. He's only a boy–a hot boy. I bit my lip and looked at him. He was staring at the board so I looked a longer than I should have. A smile crept up on his face and I knew I was caught. I looked away quickly and started copying the notes.
My eyes kept wandering to him and I couldn't help it. Even though he nearly killed Michael, he still looked like a good guy. He looked normal and nothing like Michael. After the bell rang he tried to talk to me. I put my hand up though.
"I'm in a relationship with Michael." I said before he could say anything.
"Ha! He's been cheating on you for a month now." Liz said from behind me.
"What?" I asked sharply. I turned around and gave her a bitchy look.
"Do you honestly think he really likes you? He's all over me when he gets done taking you on a date or whatever. He always tells me he can't wait to break up with you." She said snootily.
"That's not true. He's the best boyfriend ever..." I whispered.
"Only because he's fucking me." Liz said and walked away. I could feel the tears swimming in my eyes and I rushed to the girls bathroom.
"Kayla, wait!" I heard Liam but I kept walking. I checked the stalls and no one was in here. I pulled out of my phone and called Michael.
"Hey baby." He answered.
"Is it true?" I asked and my voice cracked.
"Whoa, are you okay? What's wrong?" He asked with concern in his voice.
"Are you cheating on me?!" I asked hysterically. The end was silent except for his breathing. I couldn't believe it! "I hate you!" I yelled and hung up. I threw my phone against the opposite wall but it had an Otter Box so it was okay. I slid to the floor and put my knees against my chest.
The door opened and Liam walked in.
"Leave me alone." I mumbled and buried my face in my knees. He sat down beside me and rubbed my back. "Just go away."
"It's okay. I know what it feels like." He said sadly. I looked up at him with a tear streaked face. "I was dating this girl for a couple months and I had fallen completely in love with her. She was my everything and I couldn't ask for anything more. Her name was Patricia. She had wavy black hair and electric green eyes. The way her eyes would shine when she looked at me made me think she felt the same way. We spent every waking second together. Except for her music lessons she had three times a week. I didn't think anything of it since I knew she played the piano.
"One day I went to her house when she was at her music lesson. I was going to drop off some roses for her when she got back. I knocked on the door and waited for her parents to answer. When no one came to the door, I decided that it couldn't hurt to leave them on the table right inside the house. I opened the door and put the roses down but I heard noise. I glanced in the living room and Patricia and some guy were on the couch together. Neither of them had their shirt on and the guy was only in his boxers. I was devastated. I took the roses and threw them against the wall.
"Patricia tried to call to me as I left. I just jumped in the car and kept driving. I didn't know where I was going but I went anyways. I drove for hours until I realized that I didn't own the car. It was my foster parents car and I had to return it. I turned around and drove all the way home. I moved to a different home a week after that. I'll never forget her but I've moved on a little. That was last year and it still hurts to talk about it." He said and it made me cry more. That must be terrible for him!

Liam
I don't know why I told her about Patricia. I've never told anyone about her. She's the first person who knows the real truth. When I broke up with her, rumors were spreading around school fast. The most common one was that she was pregnant so I broke up with her. She could of been pregnant but it was definitely not my baby.
"I'm so sorry." Kayla said and hugged me. I didn't move but let her. That's a big change from Saturday. She went from slapping me to hugging me. I was so shocked that I couldn't even move. I heard a phone ringing and I looked to my left. Her phone was on the floor. I reached for it and it was Michael.
"Can I answer it?" I asked. She nodded.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Who the hell is this?" Michael asked.
"I just thought I'd comfort Kayla since you're a douche bag." I said and smiled when Kayla laughed.
"Give the phone to Kayla!" He demanded.
"I don't think she wants to talk to you. I'm pretty sure she's over you." He hung up on me so I put the phone down. I thought he would of at least put up more of a fight.
"Thanks." She said.
"Anytime." I said and brushed some of her tears away with my thumb.
"I really need to get to class." She said and jumped up. I stood up also and walked out before her. She fixed her makeup before she left. She still had some bags under her eyes. She was still beautiful to me though.

Michael
God dammit! How did she know about Liz and I?! It's all because of the knew kid, Liam! Shit! I really need to get out of this bed. I felt a pang in my chest and it tightened up. I felt like I could barely breath. A tear fell down my cheek and I hastily brushed it away. I haven't cried since I was seven years old. I am definitely not going to start now. I dialed Liz's number and she answered on the third ring.
"Hey babe." She purred into the phone.
"What the fuck have you done?!" I growled at her.
"What do you mean?" She asked innocently.
"Why did you tell Kayla?!" I practically yelled.
"Well you said you were going to break up with her anyways..." She said in a small voice. I felt so much hatred towards right now that I could probably kill her.
"You don't understand! You're just some slut! I've never cared about you! Everyone in school knows you're a whore! Why do you think I would never date you?"
"But–" I cut her off.
"Don't you dare talk to me. I don't think I've ever hated someone so much than you right now. I fucking love her!" Did I just say that? Shit. I love her...
