Dark Waters

As I sink deeper and deeper into the dark water
I look up and see the light
My only chance of escape
My safe harbor
Although I try to reach it
The water has it's icy grip on me
Pulling deeper and deeper
I begin to feel the icy fluid fill my lungs
I kick until I can no longer do so
But everything I do is a wasted effort.
I accept that I won't make it out alive
I'm still shocked that you would just leave me here though
Then again I knew we wouldn't make it
And the waves would pull me under
As my time draws nearer
I feel my last breath that I'm so desperately cling to
Escape
Along with my life
It's all over.
The dark waters have overcome me once again.
