Open wings, fly away,
Far from this cursed land.
Take me away from mundane life,
Fly me to a life that's grand.
Let me soar among the rooftops,
Let me fly among the clouds.
Let me freewheel with the eagles,
Let me get rid of this cursed frown.
Take me high, higher, higher still,
To the land where angels play.
Let me rise with the saints and join them all,
To heaven where I can stay.
Take me away, oh blessed wings!
Take me to a life anew!
Take me away from this living death,
Let me soak in your voice of pure truth.
This life is too mundane for me,
My half life is too much of Hell,
Take me to heaven oh blessed angel,
And ring God's holy bell.
Written from the point of view of someone slowly dying. Depressing, I know.
