Alex got up holding his hip with one hand and scrubbing his hair with the other. He sighed while looking at the boy who looks like a spliting image of him. The boy looked up expectantly.
"You should stop charging at people like that, Leo," Alex said, sitting on his chair.
"But I miss you!" the boy said, sitting on the side of my bed. I sat up, trying to straighten my back and leaned back to the wall behind me.
"Lizzette, this is Leonardo, my little brother. It's Leo for short," Alex explained. Leo stared at me.
"Lizzette?" he asked, nudging his head to the left. "Yeah," I smiled. "Oh, and you can call me Liz for short," I said looking at Alex. Alex nodded and looked at Leo.
"You should probably go now. I'll meet you in your room later. I'll probably spend the night there," Alex said.
"You're not sleeping with big sis, here? It's your room, you know," Leo asked innocently. Alex and I blushed at the same time. Our faces were red as a tomato. I swear that if he wasn't a kid, I would've splashed his face already.
"Uh-um. I'll stay in your room cuz I want to! a-and Liz is a girl!" Alex stuttered.
"y-yeah!" I tried to support him. I looked down, trying to hide my embarassed face. Leo giggled. "You're cute!" he laughed, which made me blush more.
"I-it's 10! We should go to sleep and leave the big sis alone okay?" Alex said, trying to change the subject desperately. He stood up and took Leo's arm.
"Okay!" Leo said, leaving the room with Alex.
"Sorry bout that. Well bye. Tomorrow's Saturday, I'll bring you home as soon as I can," Alex said to me, blushing, before leaving the room. I let out a big sigh as soon the two of them left. That was embarrasing.
I slipped back into a sleeping position laying my head on the pillow. Wait a minute....it's Alex's pillow! I nearly fell of the bed trying to get off the pillow. Suddenly I realized that I was sleeping in HIS bed. What if I drool? What if I dirty it? What if I stink? OH.MY.GOODNESS
I shifted around the bed uncomfortably over and over again. After a few minutes of shifting around, I finally come to terms with the fact that I am sleeping in his bed and I can't do anything about it. I felt tired all over again and sunk into his warm blanket. It smells like Alex. N-not that I'm trying to say he smells nice or anything. After feeling like my head's about to burst open, I just stared into the ceiling absentmindedly. Sharpening all five senses effortlessly, I felt everything that was happening in the atmosphere around me.
Suddenly my old instincts kicked in. I sat up and without realizing it, I stood up and walked around the room, scanning for sharp objects. I realized I was wearing an oversized pajama when I stood up and felt the cloth. After checking what was attached to me, I looked every single spot possible and didn't find a single sharp object other than Alex's school supplies. I picked the sharp ones out and hid it under the bed. It's a habit that I gained after living with an abusive parent. I just can't sleep peacefully knowing that there were sharp objects that anyone could use against me. I know I shouldn't be suspicious of Alex. He treated me so nicely and I felt guilty about having to be so suspicious. I quietly slipped back to bed without making a single noise. That was also something I learned when living with Mom.
Never make a noise. It will bring mom to me. She has a bad temper. She could still bruise me even if she didn't have any sharp objects.
My body tensed again, scanning my surroundings for the last time before allowing my conciousness to drift away.
