Tala, Chapter 5

It was cramped in her little tree-hole, but comfortable, despite the bloodstains of the previous owner on the walls.
She spent some time figuring out where to go next, waiting and listening, she didn't want anything to go wrong. It was around three hours before she could bring herself to leave, but she had to.

When she stepped out she realised it was raining, she hadn't seen rain in a very long time, having spent so much time in the snowfields. She loved it, it was very refreshing having little water drops fall on her back, it might make it easier for her to continue.

She suddenly started feeling very hungry, having not eaten since, well, before it happened. She knew there would be critters in the forest, but where? She grew up on the tundra, learning to hunt was very different there. There would be a meal somewhere, she knew it. It would occur to her eventually, she would just have to keep an open mind.

Almost losing sight now, she had to find food, she knew there were little bushes everywhere, small mammals would fit quite nicely under those. She ended up looking quite silly, checking every bush in sight. But eventually he came across one with a tiny rabbit, instinct did the rest.
