Frozen Blood- Part Four

- Avilena

Once I was in Erik's Toyota, I completely broke down, I didn't even feel embarrassed. I knew Erik would be reading my thoughts, it was easier that way.

I blamed it all on exhaustion, I hadn't slept properly last night, the memories were each coming back one by one. I remembered the last time I saw my sister, it was May 1960 and we were helping our mother hang up the washing, she'd ran out of pegs and sent me and Sarah into the village to buy some more. I remember it was a really warm spring and we were in the village store when Sarah said she was going round the back of the town to collect the yarn she'd ordered last week. After I'd bought the pegs I went round the back alley to follow her, she was gone but I caught glimpse of a dark figure. His cold hands gripped my arm but he didn't speak. Suddenly Sarah's voice broke his grip.

The anger in her voice was strong and slow. "Get your filthy hands off of my sister!"

He pulled a pistol from his pocket and pulled the trigger, the pain in my hip was sharp like shattered glass, I fell to the ground instantly. The last thing I saw was her face, tears rolling down her cheeks. I smiled just to give her some peace. Thats when I woke up in a dark forest somewhere. I'd never asked about those days, I don't even Remember how Rose found me. How she saved me for who I was.

I wiped a tear out of my eye and pulled my stare away from the scenery, I looked down. Erik's hand was on my knee. I started to relax a little.

"Now, have you read that note I delivered to you last night?"

I looked back out of the window. "I haven't got round to it yet..."

"Well it's too late now. Sven's missed his chance." I could feel the warmth of Erik's soul, what was he on about?

That was my gift, I could tell how someone was feeling. I could tell their true attitudes. Everything would make sense to me, I could read their voices, even their actions.

"His chance to what?" I questioned.

"Have you." I looked over at Erik, he looked me into my eyes and pulled into a hard shoulder.

"Wha..." But before I could finish Erik's lips were sealed with mine. His tongue brushed against my lower lip and I couldn't help but smile, he pulled away suddenly with a frown.

"Did I do something wrong!" I exclaimed. He took my hand in his. Not speaking for a few seconds, he finally broke the silence.

"No, Ava, I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that."

I pushed all my current thoughts to the back of my mind and leant into the back of my seat.

My phone beeped. Finally a text from Rose.

Did you read the notes? Are you alone with Erik? R x
I replied instantly.
Yes, Just me and Erik...Alone...In the truck. Fred and Sven about half a mile ahead. A x

I put the mobile on my lap and Erik carried on driving. He looked like he was in pain. His eyes were bleeding sorrowful looks. I brought my knees into my chest, reclined my seat and curled into a ball. I couldn't read him, nothing made sense. Right now I did not feel safe. Not at all.
