Give By Simon Armitage

Of all the public places, dear,
To make a scene, I've chosen here.

Of all the doorways in the world
To choose to sleep, I've chosen yours.
I'm on the street, under the stars.

For coppers I can dance or sing.
For silver-swallow swords or eat fire.
For gold-escape from locks and chains.

It's not as if I'm holding out
For frankincense or myrrh, just change.

You give me tea. That's big of you.
I'm on my knees. I beg of you.

Simon Armitage

If life is an open door, why am I always trapped on the outside. With all this space around me and no where to go, no one to share it with. The cruel and unforgiving darkness becomes a blessing and my mind blurs the lines that others have set in place for me. I am at one with my self. I am at one with others. I am at one with the darkness. I am at one with the unknown.

@Petitpois

I'm not gonna tag it #colour as I don't think it needs it

If you want an analysis of this as an opuss, I'll do one. But only if 3 people want one

@Davedave16 Lovely, absolutely brilliant! Xx

@Petitpois22 it's not mine but I'm entering it as a quote for your competition. Or atleast I hope your judging the colour competition

@Davedave16 Yes! Whoever wrote it it is wonderful! Xx

@Petitpois22 :D (just remember I didn't write this! It is someone else's poem that I have written down as my entry (they are a professional poet))
