Boney

Figures flitting through flickering flames will tell
Of tribal dances by a portal to Hell,
Crumble, crackle, crash and call
As the white wood brings you under heated spells.
Hubble, bubble, toil and tear,
Flames dancing in the cool night air,
Sparks like fireflies whizzing about,
Cackles and crackles are the Mistress' hair.
Hunger, fury, consuming the night,
Sucking it in, this summer's sight.
Garish masquerade, ghouls masked by the tongues
Of a thousand demons, feeding off your fright.
Paint yourself from head to toe
In the colours of this fiery show,
Drumbeats calling, jests and jeers,
Midsummers spirits spilling out from below.
Join the hunt for the Master's hoof
Pronged and forked, proud aloof
As the livery of his valets and maids
Die down so slowly, extinguished by moon.

@ckahn oh it's a colloquialism here for a bonfire, a boney haha 😉 thanks your grace and thanks for the repost 😊

Excellent 👏👏👏👏

@glen why thank you sir and thank you too for the kind repost 😊😊

@Delilah no worries 😜

Ohhh! So cool. Is that a big past time there? We used to do it on the beach on July 4th and of course there's always camp fires. I believe it's big on the east coast with clam bakes on the beach

@ckahn haha it's not really a past time it's a celebration. It's because when Ireland was still whole the Catholic king of England King James got kicked out by his daughter and her husband Prince William of Orange (they later became King William and Queen Mary) because parliament didn't want a Catholic king and the other European countries didn't want James to team up with France and wage war. Because Ireland was predominantly Catholic James popped over to rally troops to win back the throne but old Billy was having none of that so he came too and so during the summer we have band season here where flute bands and Orangemen march in commemoration of the different battles that took place between James and William. The biggest one's on the 12th July which was the Battle of the Boyne and we have big bonfires to celebrate haha sorry quite a long story 😁

Ahhh. I see. Ireland certainly does have a fascinating history. Thanks for sharing some with me. Ireland is actually on my list of places I want to go. 👍

@ckahn you should, for such a violent place over the years some parts are so beautiful 😊
