Chapter 4
"Dark side? Are you crazy, there are things called hallucinations, Buddy!" I cry, who does he think he is? Demanding I kill some spirits! He must be crazy.
"My name is not Buddy, and I am not joking... Or insane, okay?"
"Well how do you do? Why don't you tell me your name then? Mine is-"
"Best you don't tell me, Killer, I like that name anyway. It suits you."
"Why can't I tell you?"
"They will use it against me, just call me, Hunter."
I can't help but believe him, I know they aren't hallucinations, they are way too strong. These are actual things playing with my mind. They are real. "How can I kill them anyway? If you're right, they are basically ghosts, how can you kill something that's not... Killable?"
He pushes a shaky hand through his hair. "The reason they want you is because they can posses you. You're strong enough. If you are able to turn to the dark side, you are nearly one of them, I am too, we can fight them. They are planning something, we need to stop them."
I've never noticed how much light the moon brings. The ghostly shade sweeping across the fields brings me a sense of nervousness. I don't know if the... Spirits, will haunt me tonight, but there is a good chance they will. I know that ever since I left Hunter I have been feeling watched, but maybe that's just in my head.
Everyone was asleep now, it was just me, looking deep into the sky. I was hoping Hunter would climb in through the window, or sneak through the door, I excused myself of those thoughts as he has clearly stated he would be near, not an inch closer.
'Hello, I can sense you near.' A robotic voice says, somehow in my head instead of out loud.
I shall not fall into the trap of being scared. I need to just keep focusing on the sound of ticking- Wait there wasn't ticking before.
'We are getting closer.' the voice says.
Don't scream, keep calm.
A face pressed up again the window, well with no features.
I scream, again and again.
I cannot calm down. Nothing has ever scared me so much in my whole life.
"Frey, it's okay! Nothing is there," Blake says.
The faceless creature grasps my ankle and drags me across the floor.
"Don't you see them," I scream. "Don't you see?"
"Freyja! Calm down! Remember what I told you!" Hunter whispers, standing over me.
