If I Saw You Earlier

Chapter 33

James side.

I managed to fly. I was tiered. I was sick, the pain made it difficult to get back to Alice.
I screamed of the pain on the way to her. I wanted to let it out.

She was standing where I left her. I was a centimeter or two from the sand. Then I took her hands hugged her tightly and the pain was the last thing I thought about. She was safe and that was all that mattered.

Alice's side.

He came to me, damaged and tiered. He didn't even talk. When he hugged me I saw him made a look on his face. He was in pain.

When we got home his wings got smaller. I helped him to lay on the bed. Then I took his shirt of gently and saw those blue and red marks all over his upper body.

I saw that he fell asleep as soon as his body touched the bed. I went to the bathroom, got a towel witch I soaked with water and I started to wipe his face. Those red marks must be where John hit him.

I started to cry. I hoped my crying didn't wake him up. I left the towel on the floor and fell asleep next to him.

Sunlight. It shined on my face as I woke up. What a terrible nightmare I thought. Then I saw James sleeping next to me and that was when I realized it was reality.

His red and blue marks looked worse in the light. He was sleeping so that was good. I smoothed his hair gently and for a second I saw his lips form a little smile.

I went down to the kitchen. It was only 7.45. That shower I took was really fast. I wanted to make him breakfast. I opened the fridge and saw all kind of food. I made smoothies and fruit salads.

I walked upstairs to the bedroom. I saw him. He was awake. I left the smoothies on the table and walked towards him.

" hey, don't move". I said as I touched his hair really gently.
" no, are you ok? Alice why did they leave you?". His voice was terrible. Like he was screaming all night for help.
" they were ordered to, by John". I said. I was shocked myself when I saw them leaving me alone in the night.

" you are ok?". He asked.
" yes baby". I answered.
" I am ok too". He said. He tried to put a smile but he barley was able to talk.

" let's stay here all day". I said as I looked him deep in the eyes.
