I had one. I really did! I couldn’t believe he was right! I still wasn’t ruling out him being crazy, but he was right about this. I had a spot where our shoulders touched, in the shape of a heart.
“Raine?” Jason called through my door.
“I have it! You were right!” I raced over and let him into my room.” I dint have one on Wednesday, I must have gotten it when we touched!” Jasons face broke into a grin.
“I’m not crazy then.” He walked over and took my hands again. “I’m not. I’m right, about all of this. We need to go and find what’s making this happen.” As he looked into my eyes I saw just how much he loved me. And despite of everything that had happened, I trusted him. Entirely.
“Really? I asked.
“Really.”
As i sat down on the bed, Jason came to sit beside me, winding his arm around my shoulders as I leaned against him. Scout, after having a long after-walk drink, came and curled up on my lap, and with Jason softly kissing my hair, I was so peaceful I could have gone to sleep….
‘Rrrrrring’
“Do you need that?” Jason asked, as he leant his head on mine.
“No.” I turned round to turn it off.
The phone rang again. This time I just let it ring, too happy to move. The ringer wasn’t having it though, and on the forth ring I gave up and answered the phone.
“What!”
“Don’t talk to me like that darling, I just rang to see if you were ok, I found out that were home alone, what are you up to that means you cant answer the phone?” I blushed, how was I supposed to tell my mother about Jason?
“I’m kind of WITH someone mum.” I said, hoping she would get the hint.
“Oh yes, of course, Jessica. How is she? Can I speak to her?” Jesus Christ mum, JUST GIVE UP ALREADY!
“No, its not Jess…” Jason, getting impatient, began kissing my neck again.
“Oh. Who… OH!”
“Err, yeah…” This was SO embarrassing!
“Who is he? How did you meet him? What does he look like? Is he nice to you? Have you kissed yet? Let me speak to him!”
I sighed, then past the phone to Jason and went downstairs to let them speak.
When I came back up ten minutes later with lemonade for the two of us Jason was completely dressed again, and passed me back my jumper.
“So what did you two talk about?” I asked, as I handed Jason one drink and sat down next to him to drink my own.
“Well, she wants us both to come to London tonight so that she can see you and meet me!” I choked on my drink.
“Please, please, please say you’re kidding!” I begged him. “And, I mean, train tickets are expensive and we have school on Monday, and… I said I would help Jessica with her Spanish homework!” I said, triumphant that I had found an excuse not to go. Jason rolled his eyes.
“Your mum is taking care of the prices, and Raine- There’s no school on Monday. Besides, I think Jess can take care of herself for once in a while.” I thought about what he said for a while.
“Um, no school?”
“You should really play more attention in reg.- Half term this week! No school.”
“…Do we have to go?” Yes- I knew I sounded whiney, but I HATE LONDON! Jason smiled at me.
“Pack your bag, I’ll pick you up in an hour so we can head to the station.” He bent down to kiss me on the cheek, then said, “Remember, it’s your mums wrath you’ll have to deal with, not mine.” Before he drained his glass and headed out the door.
