Sorry it took so long you guys but it's been a tough week for me! Not that good but it's alright!

•Chapter 30 - Physical•

I had never seen a mental hospital so busy in all my life. Not that I'd seen many mental hospitals.
Doctors buzzed past, patients in straight jackets or the plain white cotton clothes came by, always accompanied by their nurse.
It made me uneasy to see that Ammi found this so normal. She sat beside me with her nurse, Anna, and the two had begun to talk about the events of today. I would have listened, but my eyes were trained on Aidan, raiding the small table of snacks for friends and family visiting today. He picked up four donuts, three finger sandwiches, a sausage roll, and two glasses of Pepsi - god knows how he carried it all. Greedy bastard.
He made his way over to the three of us with a donut in his mouth and a large smile on his face as he chewed.
"Ammi, do you want to go home with Kai and I'll live here instead?" he chuckled jokingly.
Was he stupid? Did he not think that Ammi was going to take that seriously?
"oh my god really? We can do that!" She squealed, totally serious as she hopped up and down in her seat. I gave Aidan his queue to shut up for the rest of the day by punching him in the arm, causing him to drop his sausage roll.
"Uh, rude" he said with eyebrows raised.
I sighed at him and wrapped an arm around Ammi.
"He was just joking Ams, we can't actually do that" I told her gently, knowing there was no soft way to let her down other than to keep my tone gentle and loving.
"Oh" Ammi's smile dropped and she was immediately drained of all positivity.
I mouthed the words "well done jackass" to Aidan with a death glare. He winced and silently apologised.
I was still completely unaware of what a "Physical" was. I hadn't thought to ask. Ammi wanted me here, it didn't matter what it entailed.
As the halls quietened and patients moved off into other areas, a Doctor appeared from behind a door, his name tag reading "Dr. Jenkins".
"Ammi Lockheart?" He called. A few patients and nurses glanced up, but continued to relax once they realised it wasn't their turn.
"Come on Ammi" Anna smiled, taking Ammi's hand and starting to lead her towards the doctor's room. I began to follow, and so did Aidan. I stopped him with a firm hand to the chest, causing him to gasp for breath and jolt to a stop.
"Don't you think you've done enough today Aidan? Go raid the food table, we won't be long" I told him firmly, and didn't allow him a chance to protest. I slipped in the room just before the doctor shut the door.
Unlike the other rooms in the hospital, this was like a proper Doctor's office. There was a desk and computer, chairs for patients and those weird models of skeletons on the window sill. It smelt like freshly photocopied papers and musk.
Ammi, Anna and I sat opposite the doctor at his desk, scrawling down notes in black ink on a piece of perfectly flat paper.
He looked up suddenly with an overly-enthusiastic smile.
"Right then, lets get on" he said cheerfully.
"Ammi, if you would just step into the space over here for me" he said, standing and gesturing to a space in front of him. She did as he said and stood from her chair, going to stand in front of Doc Jenkins.
"Oh, are you ok to have your... Friend watch?" He asked her, eyebrows furrowed as if this was unusual.
"Watch what?" I asked, suddenly confused as to what the problem was.
"Well, to put it frankly, members of the opposite sex don't usually accompany patients because..." He could see I didn't like where this was going (Although I still didn't understand completely) and decided to just move on.
"Right-oh then, lets crack on. Clothes off Ammi".
What.
Wait, what?
I didn't realised I was speaking it aloud.
"You want her to take her clothes off. All of them?" I asked, my heart pounding against my chest in panic and pending rage.
"Well, yes, that is the point of the physical examination. We check over our patients every 6 months to see if they have been harming themselves or-" he began to explain, but I didn't need to hear any more.
"You can clearly see whether she's been harming herself or not! You don't have to take off all her clothes to get a good examination! I won't let you" I spat, suddenly on my feet and between Ammi and the doctor.
"Sir, please, try and see reason-" Doctor Jenkins began again, but I stepped close and stopped him.
"No, listen to me" I instructed.
"There is no way in hell, I am letting you strip this girl. Over my dead body" I told him slowly and quietly.
Anna stayed silent, unsure of whether to get me escorted out or allow me to say my piece. She didn't move, so was clearly on my side.
"I know a lot of people that would happily mess you up, Doctor".
"Are you threatening me?" Jenkins asked, appalled.
"Oh yes, in the most unsettling way. Now could you do me a favour, sir?" I asked with a fake smile plastered across my face.
He nodded slightly.
"Apologise to Ammi for being inappropriate, and then get a woman doctor in here to take over her physical. Please" I spat sarcastically on the end.
All I knew was I hadn't had that sort of rush since I was in jail, pounding anyone who got in my way. Watching the fear well up in his eyes was the most satisfying thing I had seen in a long time.
I was back, but this time, with a new motive, and new victims.
Anybody that wanted to hurt her, anybody who upset her, broke her heart, offended her, made her cry, would pay the price.
It was time they got their payback.
And I knew exactly where I wanted to start...
