Texas Girl (Pt 13)

Hey guys this one is short because the next is gonna be REALLY special! It
will be from Drew's POV! Warning: This is pretty heartbreaking </3

"Alright, you need some sleep. Come on, get in bed" I told Drew, walking
into her room at midnight. She lay awake on her bed in blue and white
striped pyjama shorts and a brown skin-tight vest top, as well as her
leopard print slipper boots. "No... I don't wanna" she rested her head back
against one of the many throw pillows, giving me a puppy dog face.
How could only half of my plan have worked? So it made her hungry, but not
tired. Drew was a complicated person. "You got 6 hours of sleep last night
Drew. You should have more. Your body is already low on energy because
you're starving yourself, if you push yourself any further, you're going to
kill yourself". Ooh. Not good. That was a bit harsh. It looked like it
hurt. Her eyes filled with resentment and offence. "Drew... I didn't mean
it, I'm sorry" I apologised sincerely, but she looked as if she might cry.
Don't cry. Don't cry. Please don't cry. I hated it when she cried. It was
even worse when I was the cause of it. "Drew...". She didn't say anything,
she just slid herself underneath the grey swirly covers, and turned to face
away from me. "Drew come on, please?".
Why was I so stupid? And heartless? And cruel? That was just too far - even
though it was one hundred percent true. I sighed, clambering onto the bed
and placing my hand on hers. "Drew... baby girl". I knew she liked it when
I called her that, and it seemed to work her out of the anger, as she sat
up and turned to face me. I pulled her into a hug, and heard her softly
sniffling over my shoulder, on the brink of tears. "Drew, why are you
crying?" I asked gently, not entirely sure why. "Because you... want me to
die" she sniffled.
Oh my god. Was she crazy? Seriously? She actually believed I wanted her to
die? Ok, now this was getting very, very personal. I pulled back and stared
past her eyes, deep into her heart "Drew, do you have any idea how much I
love you?". "What?". Fuck. Fuck. Fuck a duck. I think... I think I just
told her I loved her. "What did you say?". Well, no turning back now. This
is it. You're already blown. "I said, do you know how much I love you" I
repeated myself. Her face was expressionless, emotionless as she held up
her index finger "One more time". I had to smile now. "I love you, Tex".
Best. Feeling. Ever. All those hidden emotions, set free to roam this crazy
world, because I didn't have to hide them anymore, and even if I did, it
was too late anyway. They were out there. For everyone to hear. To see. To
experience.
However, even though I felt amazing, Drew didn't know how to react. She sat
there, confused as hell, whilst I looked back at her. Her eyes searched
mine, looking for... for something. I don't know what. "This is the part
where I tell you I love you back, right?" she looked down at her lap,
giggling nervously for a few seconds, before going silent and looking back
up. I nodded in answer to her question, not sure what to say for the best.
Was she going to say it? Why was she hesitating? Was there something wrong?
It took me forever to realise, she wasn't going to say it back. My heart
just... well, it just dropped. Disintegrated. No longer existed. What was
the point in it beating if there was nobody to beat for?
