Texas Girl (Pt 49)

Short but snappy. Sorry there was none yesterday! Back to normal now :) x

Drew's POV
"So what's so fantastic about this White Christmas you've got planned?" I asked, falling down on the sofa beside Justin, bowl of homemade popcorn in hand. He immediately dove his hand into the bowl on my lap, stuffing his face with the sweet treat like a total guy. "Charming" I stated sarcastically as he munched loudly, clearing half the bowl in four seconds.
When he finally finished chewing, he answered my question. "It's going to be extremely special" he nodded, licking the sugar off his fingers.
"I'd grasped that fact, what else?" I asked noisily, picking at a few tiny pieces of popcorn, more playing with them than eating them.
"Well, my whole family are going to be there. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins. It's like an extremely cheesy get-together we have every year back at home in Canada".
"Where were you born in Canada?".
"In London, but I was brought up in Stratford".
"What's it like there?".
"Really tiny, but kinda nice".
I smiled at the thought of the quaint little town Justin was raised in. No wonder he's a gentlemen. I bet all the guys carry around fancy suede jackets to lay across puddles for women to walk over.
"It sounds perfect" I smiled as Justin wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulling me close as he pressed play on the movie, and the dark room immediately lit up with coloured lights.
"Oh we're not going to Stratford" he stated, eyes glued to the TV screen as mine were glued to him.
"We're not?" I furrowed my brow.
"Nope. We're going to Banff. When I first became famous I bought my grandparents an amazing lodge house out there".
This was all becoming kind of scary. I had to meet Justin's entire family! What if they don't like me? What if they think I'm too southern? Or too skinny? Or too common? And yes what those New York ladies said is still in my head, unless you didn't notice.
"What if...?" I began, but chickened out because I knew Justin's answer. He'd tell me to not be so silly, and that they'd love me.
"What if what?" he asked, glancing briefly away from the TV to look me softly in the eye.
"What if they... Don't like me?"
As soon as the words passed my lips, Justin put the movie on pause and turned his entire body to face me, expression serious. He took my shoulders in his hands and held onto me firmly. "Listen to me carefully" he began, chuckling slightly at his own seriousness. "They. Are. Going. To. Love. You" he said precisely, his words slowly making me smile.
And it was left at that.

Airplanes. My first experience; ok. My second; absolutely horrific. The worst, most embarrassing moment of my entire life...

I woke up from a gentle, peaceful sleep on the airplane, Justin in the seat beside me. I yawned softly, smiling at the sight of his face.
"Hi" I whispered quietly, realising everyone else was asleep around me - except for Justin. I pretended he hadn't stayed awake to watch over me.
"Hello" he chuckled, his hand entwined with mine upon the armrest. Justin slid the window shade up with his free hand, making me squint and groan quietly at the sudden blinding light.
"You've slept for most of the flight. There's only an hour left" he told me, smoothing my hand gently. His eyes were soft and weary, clearly showing the insane amount of sleep-deprivation I was putting him through.
"Why don't you go to sleep for a bit?" I suggested, my eyes glimmering with false hope.
"No, I'm not tired" he lied, a feeble smile briefly crossing his face.
"Oh don't be-" I began, but my words began to slur. I tried to say it again, thinking maybe it was just a coincidental accident. "D-don't be-e s...".
My smile dropped, and Justin immediately looked hopeful that it wasn't what we both were thinking.
Not now. Please not now.
But my polite request was not heard by anyone influential. My vision began to blur, Justin's face and anything else in sight beginning to fade. I sharply looked away from him as he began to calm me, too embarrassed to even look at him.
"Drew, Drew, nothing is wrong, everything is fine, Drew!" he tried to convince me, but it was no use. The other passengers sleeping faces began to distort and become vividly horrific. There was the sound of screaming at the sight, and I looked swiftly left and right to try and locate where the noise was coming from.
And then I realised.
It was no-one else's screaming.
It was mine.

The next part could be tonight, I'm not sure, it depends on how much Sinbad we end up watching!!! :) x
